New York Giants Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Giants CB Adoree' Jackson (quad) and DT Austin Johnson (foot) are active for today's game against the Bears. Neither carries big IDP intrigue for Week 17 lineups, though.

Giants DL Austin Johnson (foot) is active for today's game against the Eagles.

Giants DL Leonard Williams (triceps) and Austin Johnson (foot) are active for today's game against the Cowboys. Both starters entered the day questionable. Johnson looks iffier than Williams, as he managed only 1 limited practice this week on his injured foot.

Giants D-linemen Austin Johnson (foot) and Leonard Williams (triceps) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. Johnson put in just a limited Friday practice after missing the 1st 2 days. He's coming off a season-high snap share in the loss to the Chargers. We'll see about Johnson's status Sunday. Williams managed limited practices all week, despite initial reports that the Giants feared his season might be over. Losing either player would further ding an already weak run defense and shaky pass rush.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Giants DE Leonard Williams is "going to miss time" with an elbow injury "feared to be significant." We'll see about the official diagnosis. With just 4 weeks left in the regular season, an IR trip would effectively end Williams' year.

Giants DE Leonard Williams left Sunday's loss to the Chargers with a right elbow injury. We'll see about his status heading into next Sunday's home date with Dallas.

Giants HC Joe Judge said Friday that S Logan Ryan will likely miss a 2nd straight game on the COVID list. It sounded like there was still a slight chance Ryan might be able to get in the 2 negative tests needed to make him eligible to return, but Judge conceded that the Giants are planning to not have Ryan available. S Julian Love played every snap against the Bucs in Ryan's absence.

Giants HC Joe Judge confirmed Friday that S Logan Ryan has tested positive for COVID. The team was awaiting 1 more test to confirm that, according to ESPN's Jordan Ranaan, but they don't believe it to be a false positive. That would knock Ryan out for Monday night's game against the Buccaneers. Julian Love seems the likeliest replacement should Ryan sit.

The Giants announced Tuesday that S Jabrill Peppers will miss the rest of the season after rupturing the ACL in his right knee. Peppers also suffered a high-ankle sprain. The 26-year-old is set to hit free agency in March, so we'll see what 2022 holds for him.

The Giants have ruled S Jabrill Peppers out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. He suffered a hamstring injury in the Week 4 win over the Saints that kept him from practicing this week. His absence can only help the tackle upside for fellow Giants DBs Logan Ryan and Xavier McKinney.

Giants S Jabrill Peppers left Sunday's game against the Saints with a hamstring injury. Despite having already been ruled out for the game, Peppers went out for the coin toss to begin overtime. We'll see about his outlook for Week 5 and beyond, but Peppers had already seen his playing time dip to a level that made him tough to play in IDP lineups.

Giants LB Blake Martinez tore his left ACL in Sunday's loss to the Falcons and will miss the rest of the season. That leaves Tae Crowder as the apparent top LB. He played 61 of 62 defensive snaps against Atlanta and led the team with 11 tackles (plus a pass defensed). Reggie Ragland came on for 65% playing time. The Giants might also consider altering S Jabrill Peppers' role, with Martinez down. Peppers has seen his playing time sag amid struggles in coverage, but he would offer above-average speed at LB and spent a season at the position at the end of college. Martinez will still be just 28 when next season begins, but his contract plus the injury could leave the Giants with an offseason decision to make. The final year on his deal carries a $14.2 million cap hit, according to Spotrac, vs. $5.5 million in dead money if New York trades or releases Martinez.

Giants LB Blake Martinez went down early in the 1st quarter of Sunday’s game against the Falcons with a knee injury. The team has ruled him out for the game, which does not bode well beyond this week. We’ll watch for the official diagnosis

Giants CB Adoree' Jackson (ankle) is active for today's game against the Broncos, giving the team its new starting duo for the matchup with Denver WRs Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton.

The Giants have placed LB Blake Martinez on the COVID list, ostensibly for a positive test upon his reporting to training camp. We'll see how soon Martinez returns to action, but we don't expect this to affect his 2021 IDP outlook.
