Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Giants are signing S Landon Collins, who started his career with the franchise before a stint with Washington. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the team plans to use Collins in more of a LB role, which fits what he last did in Washington before his release. The Giants have also recently added former Bills LB A.J. Klein and signed Jaylon Smith to the active roster ahead of last week's game, then played him for 50% of the snaps. The team is clearly still trying to figure out a plan at LB, which doesn't seem like great news for Tae Crowder. He remained the only non-edge LB playing full time for them against the Bears in Week 4 but has been a limited performer throughout his time as a starter. We'll see how this situation develops. Don't be surprised if it becomes a full-on committee.
The Giants have ruled DL Leonard Williams out for Sunday's game against the Bears. It'll be the 2nd straight contest he has missed with the knee sprain. His absence can only enhance the matchup for Bears RB Khalil Herbert.
Giants EDGE players Azeez Ojulari (calf) and Kayvon Thibodeaux (knee) are active for tonight's game against the Cowboys. It will be the 1st game for each this season after their injuries kept them out the 1st 2 weeks. Their returns are bound to help the Giants defense over the long run. We'll see about how immediately effective each young player is off the multi-week injury.
Giants EDGE players Kayvon Thibodeaux (knee) and Azeez Ojulari (calf) are questionable for Monday night’s game against the Cowboys. Both told ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan that they expect to play in what would be the 1st game this year for each
Giants DL Leonard Williams (knee) is doubtful for Monday night. His absence can only be good news for Dallas' RBs.
Giants DL Leonard Williams suffered an MCL sprain in his right knee in Sunday's win over the Panthers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Williams reportedly "may miss time, but it's not expected to be much." It seems we should expect Williams to miss at least the Week 3 game, but we'll watch for updates.
Giants EDGE starters Azeez Ojulari (calf) and Kayvon Thibodeaux (knee) are doubtful for Sunday's game against the Panthers. The defense will also be without #2 CB Aaron Robinson (appendicitis).
The Giants list EDGE starters Azeez Ojulari (calf) and Kayvon Thibodeaux (knee) as doubtful for Sunday's opener against the Titans. That puts the team in even worse shape in a matchup that already heavily favored Tennessee and further softens the matchup for Titans offensive players.
Giants EDGE starters Azeez Ojulari and Kayvon Thibodeaux put in limited practices Wednesday. Thibodeaux is coming off an Aug. 21 right MCL sprain, and the New York Post says he's chances of playing Sunday look "like a long shot." Ojulari is dealing with a calf issue that has had him considered day-to-day since late August.
The Giants have surprisingly released veteran LB Blake Martinez. According to ESPN's Jordan Ranaan, the "decision was mutual." We'd bet on Martinez landing elsewhere, and we'll see exactly what the replacement plan is with the Giants. But this is a big move for the top of the current LB rankings.
Giants rookie EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux suffered only an MCL sprain in the right knee that got bent in by a low block in Sunday night's preseason game. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the team expects Thibodeaux to miss only 3-4 weeks and is even hoping he'll be ready by the regular-season opener. It's obviously a much better outcome than many feared after watching the hit that knocked him out. The Giants could use the pass-rushing skills of the rookie, who has reportedly had a good training camp.
Giants rookie EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux suffered a right knee injury in Sunday night's preseason game against the Bengals. He took a nasty-looking shot to the side of it on a low block but was able to walk off. Jay Glazer reports that Thibodeaux will have an MRI on Monday. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero adds that there's "initial optimism he avoided a major injury." We'll see what the MRI says.
Giants 4th-round S Dane Belton "got the majority of the reps with the first team" in Thursday's OTA session, according to Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com. Belton reportedly played alongside safeties Xavier McKinney and Julian Love, as well as in place of 1 of them at times. Rosenblatt adds that Belton "will seriously push" Love for the starting job opposite McKinney (a former 2nd-round pick). Belton didn't post big numbers across 3 seasons at Iowa but did close his career with 5 INTs in 2021. McKinney's the only 1 we'd bet on in IDP drafts right now, but we'll see how the rest of this competition goes. The Giants released Logan Ryan after deploying him as a full-time player last season.
The Giants have released CB James Bradberry, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. This has been an anticipated move for the cap-strapped franchise, which clearly failed to find a trading partner for the high-priced corner. Bradberry -- who will turn 29 in August -- will land somewhere, though, likely with at least a chance to compete for a starting role.
The Giants selected EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux with the 5th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Thibodeaux averaged a class-leading 1.18 tackles for loss per game over 3 seasons at Oregon, averaging more than 1 per game each year. He never cracked 10 sacks in a season but certainly sports that kind of upside. A 90th-percentile speed score in pre-draft testing supports that. We'll see whether Thibodeaux carries a LB or DE designation. There's an especially nice ceiling if your format combines all edge players into a single category.
