Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Buccaneers QB Tom Brady attempted 52 passes for the 2nd straight game in Sunday's win over the Falcons. He completed 35 (67.3%) for 351 yards (6.75 yards per attempt) and 1 TD. Brady targeted RB Leonard Fournette most, throwing his way on 21.2% of pass attempts (11 targets) -- including his only TD toss. WR Mike Evans ranked 2nd with 8 targets, catching 4 for 81 yards. TE Cade Otton (6-43) and WR Scotty Miller (4-35) tied with 7 targets. WR Chris Godwin (6-61) and WR Russell Gage (2-20) each drew 6 looks. The Bucs now rank 4th in the league in pass attempts and have run on just 33% of offensive snaps for the season to date.
The Buccaneers got WR Mike Evans back from a 1-game suspension and WR Chris Godwin back from a Week 1 hamstring injury in Sunday night's loss to the Chiefs. Those 2 tied for the team lead with 10 targets apiece. Evans caught 8 for 103 yards and 2 scores. Godwin secured 7 catches for 59 yards. Tampa gets a soft Atlanta defense in Week 5.
Playing through a tweaked hamstring, Bucs WR Russell Gage recorded 12 catches, 87 yards and 1 score. The veteran entered Sunday as questionable on the injury report with a hamstring. Tampa Bay, of course, played without Chris Godwin (hamstring), Mike Evans (suspension) and Julio Jones (knee), but it’s still impressive that Gage garnered a 31% target share. Cameron Brate and Leonard Fournette were closest at 15% apiece. Look past Gage’s 3rd-quarter fumble, and this outing couldn't have gone much better. We'll see on the Bucs’ injury situation, but Week 4 turns up an intriguing home matchup with Kansas City.
With Chris Godwin and Julio Jones inactive Sunday, the Buccaneers turned to WRs Scotty Miller (8), Russell Gage (6) and Breshad Perriman (5) as the top 3 in targets. Gage caught 5 balls for 28 yards, increasing his usage vs. Week 1. Miller and Perriman caught just 3 balls apiece, with Perriman's 28-yard TD the highlight among them. Mike Evans got ejected for fighting after a 3-61 receiving line on 4 targets, and the league has suspended him for 1 game. Barring a successful appeal, Tampa Bay might need to lean on the same pack in Week 3 against Green Bay. We'll see about Julio Jones' health as well.
Bucs WR Mike Evans has been suspended 1 game for his role in Sunday's fight with the Saints, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Evans is considered a repeat offender after getting ejected from a game and suspended for fighting back in 2017. We'll see if Evans appeals this ruling, but fantasy owners need to plan on being without him in Week 3 for now. We'll see if WRs Julio Jones (knee) and/or Chris Godwin (hamstring) can make it back for Sunday's game vs. the Packers. If not, the Bucs will be down to WRs Russell Gage, Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller.
Bucs WR Mike Evans' "actions are being reviewed for a possible suspension," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Evans got in a brawl during the Week 2 win over the Saints and is considered a repeat offender after getting ejected and suspended back in 2017. We'll keep you updated on this situation.
Bucs WR Mike Evans and Saints CB Marshon Lattimore were ejected early in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game. These guys are unlikely to face further discipline, but we'll keep you updated. Evans finishes Week 2 with 3 catches on 4 targets for 61 yards.
Bucs WR Mike Evans (calf) is active for today’s game vs. the Saints. He only got in limited practices on Wednesday and Friday this week, although the calf issue is reportedly minor.
Bucs WR Mike Evans (calf) is expected to play vs. the Saints today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Evans only got in limited practices on Wednesday and Friday this week, but this calf issue is reportedly minor. We'll get Tampa's inactives around 11:30 am ET, but Evans can stay penciled into fantasy lineups for now.,
Bucs WR Mike Evans (calf) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Saints. He only got in limited practices on Wednesday and Friday. We're expecting Evans to play on Sunday, but the calf issue adds risk to his fantasy profile.
Bucs WR Mike Evans (calf) did not practice on Thursday. He was limited on Wednesday with what was reported as a minor calf injury, but this downgrade has his Week 2 availability in question. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow.
Bucs WR Mike Evans was limited in Wednesday's practice and listed on the injury report with a calf. "Sounds relatively minor," ESPN's Jenna Laine tweeted. We'll keep an eye on Evans over the next few days, but he can stay penciled into fantasy lineups for now.
Tom Brady went just 18 of 27 passing for 212 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT in Sunday night's win over the Cowboys. WR Mike Evans led the group in playing time, targets, catches and yards and caught the lone TD. He supplied a solid 5-71-1 receiving line on 5 looks. WR Julio Jones trailed Evans by just 1 route and finished 2nd with 5 targets. WR Russell Gage checked in 3rd among WRs in usage, with Breshad Perriman close by in a game that saw Chris Godwin injure a hamstring. TE Cameron Brate also played a big role, though he drew just 3 targets. We'd bet on more from this passing offense going forward, even if Godwin misses further time. We'd also bet on Gage's role expanding as he moves further away from his hamstring ailment.
