Julio Jones Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Bucs WR Julio Jones (knee) is questionable for Sunday night’s game vs. the Chiefs. He got in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday and will be a game-time call, according to HC Todd Bowles. We’d try to leave Jones on fantasy benches until we see him make it through a game healthy.

Bucs WR Julio Jones (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice. Jones returned to a limited practice last Friday and was reportedly a game-time decision for the Packers game before ending up inactive. It seems like he has a shot to play vs. the Chiefs on Sunday night -- although he wouldn't be a great fantasy play if WR Chris Godwin also returns for that one.

Bucs HC Todd Bowles said Monday that he expects WR Julio Jones (knee) to return for Sunday night's game vs. the Chiefs. Jones is reportedly working through a partially torn PCL but had a shot to play this past week. So, barring a setback this week, he should be ready to go for Sunday night. How much he does in practice this week will go a long way toward determining whether we can trust him in fantasy lineups.

Playing through a tweaked hamstring, Bucs WR Russell Gage recorded 12 catches, 87 yards and 1 score. The veteran entered Sunday as questionable on the injury report with a hamstring. Tampa Bay, of course, played without Chris Godwin (hamstring), Mike Evans (suspension) and Julio Jones (knee), but it’s still impressive that Gage garnered a 31% target share. Cameron Brate and Leonard Fournette were closest at 15% apiece. Look past Gage’s 3rd-quarter fumble, and this outing couldn't have gone much better. We'll see on the Bucs’ injury situation, but Week 4 turns up an intriguing home matchup with Kansas City.

Bucs WR Julio Jones (knee) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Packers. Reportedly dealing with a partially torn PCL, Jones did get in a limited practice on Friday and has a shot to return for Week 4.

Bucs WR Julio Jones' knee injury is a partially torn PCL, Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports. That's an injury that doesn't require surgery but needs time to heal. Jones remains a game-time decision for this afternoon's tilt with the Packers, but we'd stay away from him in Week 3 fantasy lineups.

Bucs WR Julio Jones (knee) is a game-time decision for today's meeting with the Packers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears the same and adds, "there is less optimism" about Jones' chances of playing than teammates Russell Gage and Breshad Perriman. We won't get Tampa Bay's inactives until around 3 pm ET today -- and Jones will be a high-risk fantasy option if he ends up playing.

Bucs WR Julio Jones (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Packers. He returned to a limited practice on Friday after sitting out the previous 2 days. HC Todd Bowles labeled Jones a game-time decision. Bucs-Packers doesn’t kick off until 4:25 pm ET, but we’ll look for an update on Jones’ status on Sunday morning. Of course, he’ll be a risky fantasy play if he suits up at less than 100%.

Bucs WRs Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) remained sidelined on Thursday. They're both looking unlikely to play vs. the Packers this weekend. WR Scotty Miller (calf) was a full-go on Thursday; WR Breshad Perriman (knee) was limited.

Bucs WRs Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. Jones seemingly has a better chance than Godwin to play vs. the Packers this weekend. But, with WR Mike Evans suspended, Tampa could be down to WRs Russell Gage, Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller atop the depth chart.

Bucs WR Mike Evans has been suspended 1 game for his role in Sunday's fight with the Saints, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Evans is considered a repeat offender after getting ejected from a game and suspended for fighting back in 2017. We'll see if Evans appeals this ruling, but fantasy owners need to plan on being without him in Week 3 for now. We'll see if WRs Julio Jones (knee) and/or Chris Godwin (hamstring) can make it back for Sunday's game vs. the Packers. If not, the Bucs will be down to WRs Russell Gage, Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller.

11:31am EDT 9/18/22

Bucs WR Julio Jones (knee) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Saints. He’s reportedly dealing with a bone bruise. We’ll see if Jones can make it back for Week 3.

ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport have Bucs WR Julio Jones (knee) as a game-time decision for today's tilt with the Saints. "The hope is he can go, but it all depends on how he warms up," Rapoport tweets. We'll find out whether Jones is active around 11:30 am ET. But, considering his injury history, he'd be a very risky Week 2 fantasy play.

Bucs WR Julio Jones (knee) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Saints. He got in just a limited practice on Friday and won't be at 100% if he suits up on Sunday. We'll get the Bucs' inactives around 11:30 am.

Bucs WR Julio Jones (knee) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. His availability for this weekend's game vs. the Saints is now in question. Check back Friday afternoon for another update on Jones' status.

Bucs WR Julio Jones (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. It's unclear if this is a rest day or if Jones is actually hurt. Check back tomorrow for another update.

Tom Brady went just 18 of 27 passing for 212 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT in Sunday night's win over the Cowboys. WR Mike Evans led the group in playing time, targets, catches and yards and caught the lone TD. He supplied a solid 5-71-1 receiving line on 5 looks. WR Julio Jones trailed Evans by just 1 route and finished 2nd with 5 targets. WR Russell Gage checked in 3rd among WRs in usage, with Breshad Perriman close by in a game that saw Chris Godwin injure a hamstring. TE Cameron Brate also played a big role, though he drew just 3 targets. We'd bet on more from this passing offense going forward, even if Godwin misses further time. We'd also bet on Gage's role expanding as he moves further away from his hamstring ailment.

Bucs WR Chris Godwin could miss "a few weeks" with the hamstring injury he suffered in Sunday night's win over the Cowboys, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "There's optimism it's not a major injury," Pelissero adds. We'll let you know if we get a more concrete timetable for Godwin's return. But considering he was just working back from the torn ACL, don't plan on using Godwin in fantasy lineups until October at the earliest. His absence is a boost for WRs Mike Evans, Julio Jones and Russell Gage.

Buccaneers WR Julio Jones landed on the 2nd team on Tampa Bay's initial "unofficial" depth chart of the regular season. That puts him behind WRs Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Russell Gage. We'll exactly what that means as we move toward and then see the opener. Barring 1 of the top 3 being ruled out for Week 1, though, Jones will be a risky opening-week fantasy option.

Bucs QB Tom Brady said WR Julio Jones is "really easy to have chemistry with" after Saturday night's preseason game. "Elite wide receiver," Brady said of Jones. The duo connected for a 20-yard gain on their only series of the final exhibition. With WR Russell Gage still sidelined with his hamstring injury -- and WR Chris Godwin coming off his torn ACL -- Jones could open the season with a big role.
