Jelani Woods Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Per beat writer Kevin Bowen, the Colts have “mixed and matched a lot” with their TEs in training camp. Bowen mentioned a “rotation” of Mo Alie-Cox, Jelani Woods, Drew Ogletree, and Kylen Granson. “It’s difficult to see much separation so far,” Bowen concluded. We remain intrigued by Woods given his combo of size and athleticism. But this is a good reminder that he still needs to earn a role. The 24-year-old posted 25-312-3 as a rookie.

The Colts have been giving first-team reps to TE Drew Ogletree in early practices -- along with second-year TE Jelani Woods. The latter we expected to climb in offensive prominence this season. Ogletree also arrived in last year's draft (Round 6) after a quiet college career that saw him total 82 catches across three years at Division II Findlay and then one at FCS Youngstown State. Ogletree generated some mild buzz in last year's training camp but suffered an August knee injury that landed him on IR. Expect Woods to remain the clear leader among Colts in our TE rankings, but the playing-time distribution will be worth watching throughout the summer.

Colts TE Kylen Granson (ankle) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Giants. That should again mean an increased role for TE Jelani Woods, who's registered 71% and 62% route rates and 8-98 and 3-43 receiving lines in the last 2 games Granson missed. The rookie would be a flier in season-long leagues but is an intriguing DFS tournament play.

The switch to QB Nick Foles did not work Monday night against the Chargers. The veteran backup tossed 3 INTs and took 7 sacks in the loss, compiling only 143 yards on 17-of-29 passing. TE Jelani Woods led the receiving with 43 yards, while WR Michael Pittman Jr. was the only Colt to catch more than 3 passes. Interim HC Jeff Saturday still said after the game that he has "no reservations" about switching to Foles and that he still plans to start the vet for the final 2 games.

Colts TE Kylen Granson (ankle) is out for Monday night's game vs. the Chargers. That leaves Jelani Woods and Mo Alie-Cox in Indianapolis' TE room. Woods posted a big 8-98 line on 9 targets when Granson missed the Week 12 game vs. the Steelers.

Colts TE Jelani Woods (shoulder, quad) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Cowboys. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so we’re not expecting the shoulder or quad to be an issue. Woods is coming off a big Week 12 but is a volatile fantasy play tonight with TE Kylen Granson back from his illness.

Colts TE Jelani Woods (shoulder, quad) is listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game vs. the Cowboys. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so he should be available. But with TE Kylen Granson back from his illness, Woods is not a reliable Week 13 fantasy play.

Colts TE Jelani Woods (shoulder, quad) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. The rookie broke out for a 8-98 line in Monday night's loss to the Steelers but is now in danger of missing Sunday night's game vs. the Cowboys. We'll see how Woods is listed on the final injury report tomorrow. TE Kylen Granson (illness) has been a full-go in practice this week and should be back for the Dallas game.

Colts TE Kylen Granson (illness) is inactive for tonight's game against the Steelers. That leaves a little more room for TEs Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods to potentially factor into DFS showdown lineups.

Colts TE Kylen Granson (illness) is now listed as doubtful to face the Steelers on Monday night. Formerly, he was listed as questionable. Look for the Colts to lean on TEs Jelani Woods and Mo-Alie Cox against Pittsburgh.

Colts TE Kylen Granson was limited in practice all week with an illness and is listed as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Steelers. Indianapolis would be left with TEs Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods if Granson is unable to play. Continue avoiding the situation in season-long leagues.

Colts TE Jelani Woods (shoulder) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Eagles. That again leaves Indianapolis down to Kylen Granson and Mo Alie-Cox at TE. They both ran routes on about half of Colts pass plays last week, but Granson out-targeted Alie-Cox 4 to 0.

2:37pm EST 11/13/22

Colts TE Mo Alie-Cox (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Raiders. He joins Kylen Granson in the TE corps, with TE Jelani Woods (shoulder) out.

Colts TE Jelani Woods (shoulder) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Raiders. TE Mo Alie-Cox (ankle) is listed as questionable after getting in just a limited practice on Friday. Alie-Cox’s absence would leave TE Kylen Granson as Indianapolis’ clear lead TE. That might make him a DFS consideration, but you should be able to do better in season-long fantasy lineups.

Colts rookie TE Jelani Woods scored 2 TDs as a mirage in Sunday's surprising win over the Chiefs. We say mirage because Woods ranked 3rd among Indianapolis TEs in playing time (16 total snaps) and pass routes (11). The TDs marked his only 2 catches amid 3 targets, which tied for 5th on the team. He'll need to pass both Kyle Granson and Mo Alie-Cox in receiving work before Woods can be applied to fantasy football lineups. Alie-Cox matched Woods' 3 targets against K.C., while Granson drew 2.

Colts TEs Kylen Granson and Jelani Woods have been "up-and-down so far, and need to stack more consistent days together," The Athletic's Zak Keefer writes. "Granson had too many drops in the spring and hasn’t flashed much in Westfield," Keefer adds. "Woods, a rookie, is probably coming along a little slower than the team would like. He’s looked lost at times." It's not a major surprise that Granson and Woods, 24 and 23 years old, respectively, are off to slow starts. We'll continue to monitor their progress, but Mo Alie-Cox looks like a safe bet to open the season as Indianapolis' lead TE.
