Donovan Peoples-Jones Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

WR Donovan Peoples-Jones led the Browns in targets (11), receptions (6) and receiving yards (60) in Sunday's win over the Panthers. He beat WR Amari Cooper by 5 targets, while RB Kareem Hunt was the only other Cleveland player to catch more than 3 balls or crack 20 receiving yards. Cooper managed just a 3-17 receiving line on his 6 looks. Anthony Schwartz drew the only other 2 targets among WRs.

Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones is "already a favorite" of QB Deshaun Watson, insider Albert Breer wrote after attending training camp. That follows last week's report that the front office and coaching staff are "big believers" in DPJ. The 3rd-year wideout appears to be in the driver's seat for a starting job and could deliver nice fantasy value at least when Watson is eligible to play.

Per Browns insider Scott Petrak, “the front office and coaching staff are big believers” in WR Donovan Peoples-Jones. Petrak writes that DJP will get “every chance” to start alongside Amari Cooper. The 3rd-year man was always a likely starter, but it’s nice to get confirmation ahead of training camp. DPJ’s fantasy value remains tied to the suspension status of Deshaun Watson.

Browns WR David Bell got some reps with the 1st-team offense in OTAs, according to The Athletic's Zac Jackson. Amari Cooper is locked in as Cleveland's #1 WR, and it sounds like Bell, Donovan Peoples-Jones and Anthony Schwartz are competing for the next 3 spots on the depth chart. Bell has drawn positive reviews so far from both coaches and beat writers. Consider him the favorite for primary slot duties this season, making the rookie an intriguing late-round pick in fantasy drafts.

Browns beat writer Zac Jackson believes “the chances are high” that the team adds a veteran WR. No available player would impact Amari Cooper’s role. But we could see competition for the young guys behind him: Donovan Peoples-Jones, David Bell and Anthony Schwartz. Will Fuller, Julio Jones and T.Y. Hilton are some of the big-name WRs still available. Odell Beckham (ACL) is worth a mention, too, but Jackson doesn’t believe a reunion is likely.

Browns insider Tony Grossi believes “opportunity [is] knocking” for 3rd-year WR Donovan Peoples-Jones. Grossi notes that Will Fuller — connected to Cleveland long before today — could be an option down the road. But Peoples-Jones’ stock at least looks stable in the short-term, assuming free agent Jarvis Landry plays elsewhere. The Browns selected 2 WRs in the draft — David Bell in Round 3 and Michael Woods in Round 6 — but DPJ will enter camp as the favorite to start with Amari Cooper. The real key here is just how many games Deshaun Watson will miss due to suspension.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield, QB Case Keenum, WR Jarvis Landry and TE Austin Hooper will not be activated from the COVID list for tonight's game vs. the Raiders, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. So QB Nick Mullens will get the start for Cleveland. His top 2 WRs figure to be Donovan Peoples-Jones and Rashard Higgins. David Njoku should top the TE depth chart. We'll see if TE Harrison Bryant (ankle) is able to play. Expect a run-heavy game plan featuring Nick Chubb from the Browns.

Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Ravens. He only got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday, so DPJ figures to be operating at less than 100%. WR Rashard Higgins is a healthy scratch tonight.

Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game vs. the Ravens after getting in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. DPJ isn’t a fantasy option at less than 100%. WR Anthony Schwartz (concussion) has been ruled out.

Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Lions. Rashard Higgins figures to operate as Cleveland’s #2 WR but would be a desperation fantasy play. Expect QB Baker Mayfield to hand it off a bunch today.

Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) "has an uphill battle" to play vs. the Lions today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Cleveland will also be without WR Anthony Schwartz (concussion), leaving WRs Rashard Higgins, Demetric Felton, J'Marcus Bradley and Lawrence Cager behind Jarvis Landry. Expect a run-heavy attack from the Browns.

Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) is questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Lions. He tweaked his groin on Wednesday, was sidelined on Thursday and then limited in Friday’s practice. DPJ shouldn’t be in your fantasy plans at less than 100%. WR Anthony Schwartz (concussion) is out for Week 11.

Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) is active for today’s game vs. the Bengals. He'll replace WR Odell Beckham in Cleveland’s starting lineup.

Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) is expected to play vs. the Bengals today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Rapoport also confirms that DPJ is expected to replace WR Odell Beckham in the starting lineup. We'd try not to use Peoples-Jones in Week 9 fantasy lineups, but he's worth rostering in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams.

Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Bengals. When healthy, DPJ figures to join Jarvis Landry and Rashard Higgins atop the Odell Beckham-less depth chart.

Yahoo's Charles Robinson reports that the Browns and WR Odell Beckham Jr. have negotiated an end to his time in Cleveland. The team reportedly plans to waive Beckham on Friday. If Beckham passes through waivers without getting claimed, he'd then be free to sign with any team. Given that no franchise apparently made a solid enough offer -- or any offer? -- to acquire Beckham and his contract before the trade deadline, it's certainly no lock that he'll be claimed on waivers. We'd certainly bet on Beckham landing somewhere with opportunity, though. That makes him worth holding on fantasy rosters where possible for now. His pending departure leaves targets available in Cleveland, with Jarvis Landry and Donovan Peoples-Jones likely the primary beneficiaries.

Insider Michael Silver reports that Browns HC Kevin Stefanski told his team today that WR Odell Beckham is "essentially not on the team right now." Stefanski didn't reveal much in his press conference, only confirming that Beckham was excused from Wednesday's practice and that the 2 haven't spoken over the past 24 hours. We'll continue to keep an eye on this situation, but it sure seems like Beckham's time with the Browns might be over. His absence would leave Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones as Cleveland's top 3 WRs. (Peoples-Jones is expected to return to practice from his groin injury today.)

Browns WR Jarvis Landry (knee) is not listed on the final injury report. He only got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday but is evidently in no danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Steelers. Landry is a low-end WR3 for that one. WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) has been ruled out.

Fox Sports' Erin Andrews reported just before kickoff that Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones is questionable with a groin injury. It must have happened in pregame warmups. We'll see if he ends up playing tonight.
