Colts QB Anthony Richardson's offseason plans include working with biometric expert Chris Hess, according to ESPN's Stephen Holder. Hess' client list includes QB Josh Allen, who credits Hess with helping him boost his completion rate from 52.8% as a rookie to 69.2% by his third season. Richardson completed just 47.7% of his passes this past year.
Hess will certainly have his work cut out with Richardson, who has all the arm talent in the world but has continued to miss far too many easy throws. His 60.2% adjusted completion rate (which accounts for drops and throwaways) last year was nearly 9 percentage points below any other QB.
According to Holder, Richardson will be keying on "refining his throws on short and intermediate routes and throwing with more touch. He'll be focusing on overall technique as well, such as his sometimes-sloppy footwork."
It's worth remembering that Richardson spent most of last offseason rehabbing from shoulder surgery, which likely stunted any potential improvements in his passing.
Although he turns just 23 in May, 2025 feels like a huge year for Richardson's career. GM Chris Ballard has said that he plans on bringing in competition this offseason. We'll see how stiff the competition is.
Richardson can only be selected as a QB2 in early fantasy drafts.
