Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence is being placed on IR after suffering a concussion against the Texans. He would be eligibile to return for Week 18, but he likely will be shut down for the season. LB Azeez Al-Shaair was suspended due to the hit on Lawrence while he was sliding.
Josina Anderson: "The Jaguars are placing QB Trevor Lawrence on injured reserve. This move by the team will likely end his season."
Mac Jones will be the QB for the Jaguars at least through Week 17, though it is likely the team lets Lawrence get healthy instead of playing in a meaningless Week 18 game.
Jones hasn't topped 140 yards in either of his starts for Lawrence, throwing three INTs and no TDs.
Filling in for Lawrence after the injury however, Jones had a career day throwing for 235 yards and two TDs.
Despite that success, Jones at QB is a downgrade for the entire Jaguars offense, especially rookie WR Brian Thomas Jr. who has flashed all-star potential this year.
Jones did connect with WR Parker Washington against the Texans, so it remains to be seen if that will be a boost for him.
The Jaguars remaining fantasy schedule consists of the Titans, Jets, Raiders, and Titans again.
