Colts WR Josh Downs is considered "week to week" with the shoulder injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Lions and is a "long shot" to play against the Patriots this weekend, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "But the belief is he did not suffer a major injury," Rapoport adds.
The Colts have a Week 14 bye, and it sounds like Downs will have a chance to be ready for Week 15. He's worth keeping stashed in most fantasy leagues, although the Colts face negative WR matchups against the Broncos and Titans in Weeks 15 and 16. Week 17 brings a better matchup vs. the Giants.
Downs' absence this weekend should mean a full slate of snaps for WR A.D. Mitchell. The rookie has flashed in limited opportunities this season, with a 27% targets per route and 1.72 yards per route. He posted a 6-71-0 line in a spot start against a tough Bills secondary a few weeks ago.
Mitchell will be on the WR4 radar for Sunday's plus matchup against the Patriots.
Downs' absence will also mean additional target upside for WRs Michael Pittman and Alec Pierce. Downs leads the Colts with 7.8 targets per game since Week 3.
