Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle tied his career high with 22 touches in Sunday's win over the Commanders. He carried 19 times -- second most this season -- and caught all 3 targets. Dowdle tallied 86 yards on the ground (4.5 per carry) and 12 yards receiving (4.0 per catch). He watched the team's only two offensive TDs go elsewhere.
Dallas had just one possession travel inside the Washington 10-yard line and didn't give him a shot.
QB Trey Lance lost 3 yards on first-and-goal from the 3, and then Cooper Rush hit WR Jalen Tolbert for the TD on the ensuing play.
It's clearly a positive that Dowdle's dominating backfield work. Ezekiel Elliott drew just 3 carries and 0 targets against Washington.
But despite Sunday's 34 team points, Dallas remains a bad offense in which to be the lead back.
Dowdle at least gets positive matchups with the Giants and Panthers among the next three games.
