The Eagles finished Sunday's win over the Jaguars with 46 rushes vs. just 24 pass attempts. But their approach didn't go nearly as run-heavy as those numbers made it seem. The first half found just 17 designed run plays vs. 23 dropbacks for Jalen Hurts. He scrambled four times in the second quarter, took 3 sacks, and went 13-for-16 passing before halftime.
Philly played the whole second half without WR A.J. Brown (knee injury) and held a 22-0 lead with 9:31 left to go in the third quarter.
Those factors surely played into a run-heavier second half, while Hurts' six scrambles for the game increased the overall rate of run plays.
The split, of course, didn't really matter for Hurts' fantasy value. He delivered his eighth rushing TD of the year, marking his third straight game with a ground score. Hurts' 67 rushing yards were his second-most this season, trailing only his 85 yards in Week 2.
He also found Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith for TDs. It was just the third time in eight games that Hurts has thrown more than 1 TD pass this season. He has completed more than 70% of his passes in three straight contests, though.
Ultimately, Hurts has worked back to being a weekly top-shelf option after a shakier start to the year.
His remaining schedule looks good, with the roughest spots a Week 15 home date with Pittsburgh and a pair of meetings with Washington. The Commanders yielded 3 total TDs to Giants QB Daniel Jones on Sunday, though.
