Commanders RB Austin Ekeler did garner a season-high 11 carries with Brian Robinson Jr. inactive for Sunday's win over the Giants. But that merely tied Chris Rodriguez for the team lead, as the team split 30 RB carries among three players. Jeremy McNichols took the other 8 carries and ran 11 pass routes to Ekeler's 13, according to Pro Football Focus.
Ekeler drew all 4 of the team's RB targets. But he ran a route on just 52% of Jayden Daniels' dropbacks.
His 42 rushing yards (3.8 per carry) trailed Rodriguez's team lead, and Ekeler claimed the lone rushing score from 1-yard out midway through the second quarter.
Sunday showed us that Washington doesn't want to overwork Ekeler even when Robinson's not available. Keep that in mind for setting expectations should Robinson miss any further games.
Ekeler still didn't crack RB2 territory in our PPR rankings for Week 9 even after Robinson turned up inactive.
