Saints RB Alvin Kamara did not practice on Wednesday. He's dealing with a hip pointer and rib injury, HC Dennis Allen said. Kamara was able to play through the issues in the Week 3 loss to the Eagles but shouldn't be considered a lock to play vs. the Falcons on Sunday.
Insider Nick Underhill on Kamara: "The word is that he's gonna try to play this week. Not practicing today obviously is not a good thing. We'll see how it progresses throughout the week, but I don't think his situation is serious to the point where it's definitely gonna take him out on Sunday."
We'll keep you updated on Kamara's status throughout the week.
His absence would leave Jamaal Williams as New Orleans' lead back. He was one of the worst runners in the NFL last year and is averaging just 3.8 yards per carry so far this season. But volume would at least get him into the RB3 mix if Kamara is out.
The Saints are also expected to get Taysom Hill back this week. He could play a big ball-carrying role sans Kamara.
