Eagles TE Dallas Goedert set career marks for receptions (10) and receiving yards (170) in Sunday's win over the Falcons. He capped off the effort with a 61-yard catch to set up the game-winning TD run late in the fourth quarter. Goedert's 11 targets led the team and accounted for 29% of QB Jalen Hurts' total pass attempts. WR DeVonta Smith was the only other Eagle to see more than four looks.
Goedert's 11 targets more than doubled his season total, after he totaled nine across the first two weeks. His route rate fell right in line with the first two weeks, though.
WR A.J. Brown's absence obviously helps with available targets. But Brown also missed the Week 2 loss to Atlanta. WR Britain Covey out-targeted Goedert 6-4 in that contest.
The Saints finished last season as a mid-pack TE defense but didn't face a challenge at the position over the first two weeks to give us a read on this season's matchup.
We'll see how New Orleans fares as a TE matchup going forward. But this should be enough to keep Goedert in lineups for most fantasy teams.
He certainly won't deliver every week. But injuries to both A.J. Brown (hamstring, missed past two games) and DeVonta Smith (concussion vs. Atlanta) add upside to Goedert for a Week 4 date with Tampa Bay.
Philly gets a bye in Week 5.
