Texans QB C.J. Stroud threw for just 215 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs in Sunday's lopsided loss at Minnesota. He left for Houston's final possession, giving way to Davis Mills. Stroud's lone TD went to RB Cam Akers late in the third quarter.
Stroud: "It's Week 3. It's no time to point the finger. It's only time to come together. We know what we're gonna be, and we're gonna continue to go through the lumps that everybody goes through during the year at some point. And we're glad it's happening now."
That's good perspective from the QB, who has put plenty of positive on tape for us to overlook this down performance.
It's also worth noting that he might have been facing a tough Minnesota defense. The Vikings weren't good on that side of the ball last season. But they've now allowed just 30 points across the first three games -- including consecutive victories over 2023 playoff teams.
Stroud gets home games vs. unscary secondaries from Jacksonville and Buffalo the next two weeks.
He threw for 280+ yards and 2 TDs in each meeting with the Jaguars last season.
This game did mark the second time in three games that Stroud took 4 sacks. That'll be an aspect to watch going forward.
