WR Deebo Samuel took two other carries but lost 10 yards on his work. Mason added one catch for 4 yards on his lone target.

He'll get at least three more chances to lead the backfield, with the Niners putting Christian McCaffrey on short-term IR. There's nothing scary about matchups with the Rams, Patriots, and Cardinals over that span.
Mason sits tied for the league lead in carries, with the Monday night game of Week 2 yet to play. His 48 rushes match Packers RB Josh Jacobs, with Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson just behind (46).
