Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown caught only three passes on six targets for 13 yards in the Lions Overtime win over the Rams. He only had one catch in the entire second half and overtime period as the Lions opted more for the run game as well as a breakout game for Jameson Williams.
It was one of the biggest disappointments of Week 1 for fantasy managers with St. Brown being incredibly underutilized by OC Ben Johnson in the Lions offensive gameplan.
Combined with the Rams focus on cheating any zone coverages toward St. Brown, and it wasn't feasible for QB Jared Goff to force the ball to St. Brown throughout the game.
It is far from time to panic about St. Brown and his fantasy numbers moving forward. A player with his talent isn't going to disappear every game, especially against worse secondaries.
The Lions go up against the Buccaneers next week, a perfect get right spot for St. Brown where he can be moved around the formation and create mismatches. If that happens, he will perk right up to Top 10 WR status again.
Trust what we have seen from Johnson and HC Dan Campbell to find ways to win with St. Brown in the future.
