49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said Saturday that he'd be "surprised" if WR Brandon Aiyuk played a full slate of snaps in Monday night's opener vs. the Jets. Aiyuk has only been practicing for the last week after holding out for a new contract all summer.
Shanahan on Aiyuk: " He's in good shape. He's had a really good week. He's pushed it real hard. He looks good and he's ready to go."
We'll look for further reports on exactly how much Aiyuk will play against New York. When he is on the field, it'll likely be in passing situations, and especially high-leverage passing situations. (Remember that we care more about pass routes than snaps for WRs.)
Aiyuk is still a starting option for most fantasy teams. But between the limited snaps and a matchup with CB Sauce Gardner and a stout Jets secondary, Aiyuk sits much lower than usual in our Week 1 WR Rankings.
Burden failed to match massive expectations in 2024 -- and then joined a Bears squad that's loaded at pass catcher. Still, his overall profile suggests you shouldn't underestimate his dynasty potential.
