Packers insider Zach Kruse expects TE Tucker Kraft to be a "big part of the offense" this season. Kraft missed time earlier this offseason with a pectoral injury but "is starting to come on as Week 1 nears," Kruse adds.
Kruse on Kraft: "He was productive on Thursday, catching at least five passes in 11-on-11 work. The Packers found him in the passing game in a variety of ways, including the screen in the red zone, another completion on a designed rollout and another big gain over the middle of the field."
Kraft played behind Luke Musgrave when both were healthy last year and figures to open this season as Green Bay's No. 2 TE. But Kraft proved capable of producing as the lead TE in the six games Musgrave missed last year. Kraft averaged 3.8 catches, 46.8 yards, and 0.3 TDs across those contests, ranking eighth among TEs in PPR points.
He might need a Musgrave injury to be a reliable fantasy play in managed leagues this season. But Kraft is seemingly in line to get enough snaps behind Musgrave to have some weekly upside. He's a screaming value in best ball drafts, with an ADP in Round 19 as the 32nd TE off the board.
Kraft's emergence is a threat to Musgrave's weekly viability. It's possible that this turns into more of a 1A/1B situation. That'd make Musgrave tough to rely on as a starter in managed leagues, especially considering Green Bay's deep WR corps.
