Chiefs WR Marquise Brown injured a shoulder on the first play of Saturday night’s preseason game vs. the Jaguars. Brown made an 11-yard reception before landing awkwardly on the shoulder.
Brown inked a one-year, $7 million deal with the Chiefs in free agency and is being counted on to play a big role this season. He's reportedly had a strong training camp, but now we'll wait to see how long he'll be sidelined. We should get an update on his status within the next day or two. For now, we're not moving Brown in the WR rankings.
Kansas City's WR corps is in flux between this Brown injury and the potential suspension looming over Rashee Rice. The big winner could be first-round rookie Xavier Worthy, who's made plenty of splash plays in training camp.
Brown has missed 11 games across five NFL seasons with ankle, thigh, foot, and heel injuries. He at least has no history of shoulder injuries.
Our Injury Predictor gives Brown a 78% chance of injury this season and 2.4 projected games missed.
