Seahawks QB Geno Smith plans to use his legs a little bit more to add an extra element to what defenses have to account for. Last year, Smith rushed for 155 yards on 37 carries. In 2022, he ran for 366 yards.
Geno Smith: “Last year, really midway through the season, I felt I could have used my legs a little bit more. That’s something I want to continue to do. I’m still very athletic. I play within the pocket, that’s the base of my game, but I think I can add an extra element to what defenses have to account for if I get a couple extra first downs or a couple extra touchdowns.”
Any added rushing for Smith would be excellent for his fantasy value.
Though new OC Ryan Grubb hasn't put a focus on QB rushing in his college offenses, a more spread style could lend itself to some QB Draws and Blasts throughout the season for Smith.
Even if Smith can get back to 350-400 yards rushing on the season, it would add 20 fantasy points on the season to make him a rock solid QB2.
Keep an eye on the talk around Smith's rushing. If the buzz continues, he is a likely value in Superflex and Best Ball leagues.
