Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins has participated fully in the first two days of training camp, according to ESPN's Kris Rhim. Dobbins is returning from last September's torn Achilles but is seemingly on track for the start of the 2024 campaign.
"I feel like I'm in college out there right now," Dobbins said Thursday. "And I do think that the storm is over. Now I'm on a new journey, a healthy journey this year. You guys will see -- it'll be special."
We've heard nothing but good news about Dobbins' recovery from that torn Achilles, and it's certainly encouraging that he's on track for Week 1. But it remains to be seen if he can rediscover his pre-injury form. Achilles injuries are notoriously tough. We've most recently seen RB Cam Akers struggle returning from the injury.
Dobbins, of course, has a lengthy injury history, including a multi-ligament knee tear back in 2021. The 25-year-old at least has age on his side. And he finds nice opportunity in Los Angeles in a wide-open backfield under a run-loving coaching staff led by HC Jim Harbaugh and OC Greg Roman, who spent the past four seasons with Dobbins in Baltimore.
Dobbins still falls in "flyer" category in fantasy drafts. But, if he can get back to something close to 100%, he has the potential to be a fantasy asset this year.
Ollie Gordon’s resume features a huge 2023 season and highlight-reel runs — but also a rocky 2024 campaign, underwhelming Combine, and off-field concerns. Is he a future fantasy workhorse or just another big back who peaked in college?
