Bottom Line
Levis took over for Ryan Tannehill last year and was merely average. He locked in on DeAndre Hopkins and tried to navigate around a poor offensive line.
The Titans are clearly trying to support him by bringing in Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard, so the offense will be more pass-oriented than last season.
New HC Brian Callahan has a great QB track record, so Levis has a chance to at least be an upside QB2 this year.
What We Learned Last Year
- Levis was inactive through the first six weeks of the season. He started Week 7 after Ryan Tannehill suffered an ankle injury.
- Levis missed two games due to injury.
- Week 16 due to a right ankle injury suffered in Overtime the week before
- Week 18 due to a right foot injury.
- Levis’ scoring average in eight full games last year would have ranked 30th among QBs.
- He had one top-12 finish. He had three QB25 or worse finishes.
- His per-game averages were mediocre:
- 58.4% completion rate
- 200.9 yards
- 0.89 TDs
- 0.44 INTs
- 7.0 adjusted yards per pass attempt
- Among 45 QBs with 135+ dropbacks, Levis ranked:
- 32nd in Pro Football Focus passing grade (61.6)
- Sixth in Big Time Throw percentage (5.9%)
- Sixth in Turnover Worthy Play percentage (4.5%)
- 24th in Time to Throw (2.76 seconds)
- 42nd in Completion Percentage Above Expectation (-3.2%)
- Levis' 10.6 average air yards per pass attempt easily led all 32 qualifying QBs last year. (C.J. Stroud finished second at 9.0 yards.)
- He played behind a poor O-line that ranked 25th in Pro Football Focus' pass-blocking grades.
