Weekly Writeup
Even if DeVonta Smith plays through the hamstring injury that cost him most of the team’s practice time this week, Goedert will gain upside from the WR being less than full strength. The TE’s 5 catches last week tied for the team lead. The Rams arrive as the 10th most friendly scoring matchup for the position.

Bottom Line

Durability remained an issue for Goedert in 2023.

He’s back healthy for the summer, but questions remain surrounding his fantasy upside.

Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith have limited the scoring ceiling. This offseason, Philadelphia added another TD threat in Saquon Barkley.

Another 80+ targets are in play – plenty to provide a low-end TE1 floor. Just consider a finish beyond there a bonus.

What We Learned Last Year

  • Goedert’s sat out eight games over the past two seasons.
    • He missed time with a fractured shoulder in '22 and a fractured forearm in '23.
  • The Eagles were not a pass-heavy offense, finishing 23rd in pass rate.
  • A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith stayed healthy, further limiting Goedert’s fantasy appeal.
  • In 14 games, the 29-year-old ranked 12th in PPR points per game.
    • Goedert finished as a top-10 TE four times.
    • He slotted 20th or worse in seven weeks.
  • Goedert posted career lows in yards per catch (9.7), yards after catch per reception (5.2), and yards per route run (1.30).
  • He continued to underwhelm as a TD scorer with 3.
    • Jalen Hurts’ goal line rushing certainly played a role.
    • Goedert managed only 3 targets inside the 10 yard-line. 25 TEs beat that mark.

What to Expect in 2024

  • Philly returns Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith.
  • The Eagles are breaking in a new OC in Kellen Moore.
    • He spent last season as the Chargers’ play-caller.
    • They ranked 18th in total yards and 21st in points, although several key injuries hamstrung the offense.
    • TEs combined for a 21.7% target share, a mid-pack finish.
    • Moore’s presence should produce a bit more passing, but don’t expect a pass-happy attack.
  • C.J. Uzomah projects as Philly's TE2. His arrival doesn't impact Goedert's fantasy outlook.
  • Goedert’s TD upside remains limited by Hurts, Brown, and Smith.
    • Philly also invested in free agent Saquon Barkley, the owner of 47 career TDs.

DeVonta Smith Out For Week 12

Eagles WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) is out for Sunday night’s game against the Rams after missing practice all week. He played through a hamstring issue in Week 11 but evidently had a setback at some point. Smith’s absence will mean more snaps for some combination of WRs Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson, and Ainias Smith. But targets figure to consolidate even more around WR A.J. Brown and TE Dallas Goedert.

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert scored his team's second TD in Sunday's win over the Cowboys, snagging the 14-yarder late in the first half. That was one of two catches for 25 yards among 3 targets.

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (hamstring) put in a full week of practice and will play vs. the Cowboys on Sunday. It looks like he’s ready for a full slate of snaps in his first action since Week 6. But with WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith available – and the Eagles unlikely to pass much vs. the Cooper Rush-led Cowboys – Goedert is a fringe TE1.

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. Barring a setback, he should return for this weekend's game vs. the Cowboys. Goedert led all TEs in PPR points over the first four weeks of the season, but a lot of that damage came with WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith out. We haven't seen all three guys play a full game together since Week 1. Goedert posted a 4-31-0 line on five targets in that one.

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (hamstring) remained sidelined in practice all week and is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Jaguars. That’ll give TE Grant Calcaterra another start. He’s caught all eight of his targets for 130 yards over the last three weeks.

Goedert missed more time in 2023, this time due to a fractured arm. He's now missed eight games over the past two seasons. As long as A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith stick around Philly, Goedert will retain a limited fantasy ceiling.
