Bottom Line

Moore looked like a promising fantasy prospect not that long ago. (This will be just his fourth season.) But two franchises have now indicated he’s not good enough. Don’t ignore those hints.

What We Learned Last Year

  • Looks like the Jets weren’t wrong to quickly give up on their former second-round pick. Moore did actually improve on his 2022 numbers … but basically only because he couldn’t get much worse.
  • His 2.3 receptions per game in his final Jets season gave way to a still-unhelpful 3.5 in his first Browns turn.
  • Moore finished just 78th in yards per route among 96 WRs who drew at least 40 targets, a thrilling climb from his No. 93 finish (among 97) the year before.
  • We could dig further into the numbers here, but the Browns showed us how excited they are about Moore by trading for Jerry Jeudy in the offseason and then extending him for $17.5 million a year over three years.

What to Expect in 2024

  • Moore could muster only five top-36 PPR weeks – just two of those higher than WR28 – as Cleveland’s No. 2 wideout. It’s hard to see him delivering anything useful now that he’s No. 3.
  • Cleveland adds Jeudy to a corps led by Amari Cooper. We’ll see whether Moore’s standing getus further challenged by second-year WR Cedric Tillman or anyone else.
  • The Browns might be ready to pass the ball a bit more after hiring OC Ken Dorsey, who piloted one of the league’s most pass-happy offenses in Buffalo over the past two years (before getting fired mid-2023).
    • But even if they shift significantly in that area, Moore looks unlikely to sit any higher than fourth in target distribution, behind (at least) Cooper, Jeudy, and TE David Njoku.

Elijah Moore In Concussion Protocol

Browns WR Elijah Moore is in the concussion protocol, HC Kevin Stefanski said Sunday. Moore last practiced on Friday.

Browns WR Amari Cooper (heel) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Bengals. He said Thursday that he expects to be ready for the Wild Card playoff game next weekend. WRs Elijah Moore (concussion) and Marquise Goodwin (knee) are listed as questionable. Both guys will likely be held out of this meaningless game. Cedric Tillman is the best target bet in Cleveland's WR corps this weekend.

Browns WR Elijah Moore sustained a concussion in the second quarter of Thursday night's win over the Jets. It's his second documented concussion. We'll track Moore's progress through the protocol. The most likely scenario has him missing Week 18 but being cleared for the first round of the playoffs.

Browns WR Amari Cooper (heel) is inactive for tonight's game vs. the Jets. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported less than an hour ago that Cooper was likely to play, but he reportedly didn't feel good enough in pregame warmups. His absence leaves Elijah Moore, Cedric Tillman, Marquise Goodwin, David Bell, and James Proche as Cleveland's five active WRs. We'd try to avoid the group against the Jets' top-ranked WR defense. TE David Njoku should get a target boost with Cooper out. QB Joe Flacco is no more than a low-end QB2 tonight considering the matchup and Cooper's absence.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Browns WR Amari Cooper has cleared the concussion protocol and will play Sunday against the Jaguars. WR Elijah Moore dominated targets (12) in last week's loss to the Rams, which Cooper left early. Cooper drew 5 targets on just 32% snap share. We'd bet on him returning to the lead among Cleveland WRs this week. Check our Week 14 WR rankings for updated projections on both guys.
