San Francisco 49ers Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (knee, ankle) didn't practice again on Thursday. The affectionately nicknamed CMC has played through injury for much of this season, but it's still worth noting his lack of activity. Check back again tomorrow for updates regarding his status for Week 18 vs. the Cardinals.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (knee, ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. HC Kyle Shanahan labeled him "day to day" earlier this week. With San Francisco still having a shot at the NFC's #1 seed, we're expecting McCaffrey to play vs. the Cardinals this weekend. We'll get another update on his status on Thursday afternoon.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (ankle, knee) practiced fully on Wednesday. It's looking good for Samuel to make his return to NFL action since getting hurt in Week 14 vs. the Buccaneers. We'll continue to monitor the veteran's status in advance of Week 18 vs. the Cardinals.

49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) has been designated to return from IR. He's been out since spraining an MCL in Week 12. We'll see if he's ready to play vs. the Cardinals this weekend. A healthy Mitchell figures to slide back in as San Francisco's #2 RB behind Christian McCaffrey.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday that RB Christian McCaffrey is "day to day" with an ankle sprain suffered in the win over the Raiders. The ankle didn't seem to be much of an issue in that one, with McCaffrey going for 193 total yards and a score. We'll keep an eye on him this week, but he should be fine for Sunday's regular-season finale vs. the Cardinals. San Francisco is still alive for the NFC's #1 seed, needing a win plus an Eagles loss to the Giants.

Niners LB Dre Greenlaw left Sunday's win over the Raiders with a back injury. HC Kyle Shanahan said Greenlaw would have a Monday MRI to determine the extent.

Titans HC Mike Vrabel named QB Joshua Dobbs his starter for this weekend's must-win game vs. the Jaguars. It was the only logical move after Dobbs looked like a functional NFL QB in Thursday night's loss to the Cowboys -- something that hasn't been said about QB Malik Willis this season. Of course, the Titans will ride RB Derrick Henry as far as he can take them this Sunday.

Rams EDGE Leonard Floyd (illness) is active for today's game against the Chargers. Use him as planned in IDP lineups.

49ers Deebo Samuel (ankle, knee) has been ruled out for Week 17 vs. the Raiders. HC Kyle Shanahan had hoped to get the crafty wideout back before too long, but it looks like they'll have to wait another week. This effectively ends Samuel's 2022 fantasy season unless you're a manager who plays into Week 18.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (knee) practiced in full on Friday and doesn't have an injury tag in advance of Week 17 vs. the Raiders. Teammate RB Jordan Mason (hamstring) also fully practiced and will be ready for Sunday. Fire up McCaffrey as an RB1 stud per usual.

49ers QB Brock Purdy (oblique, rib) practiced fully all week and doesn't carry an injury designation ahead of Week 17 vs. the Raiders. Purdy ranks 10th among QBs in fantasy points over the past 4 weeks, with 2 passing TDs in every game. He's done it on high-end efficiency, averaging just 26.5 pass attempts per game. But he should be efficient again this weekend against a bad Raiders defense. The 49ers' 25.75-point implied total is 4th highest on the week.

Titans HC Mike Vrabel declined to name a starting QB for Week 18 after Thursday night's loss to the Cowboys. Joshua Dobbs looked like a functional NFL QB for most of that game, finishing 20-of-39 for 232 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. "It was a great opportunity to evaluate Josh, and we'll make a decision going forward," Vrabel said. "I thought he did some good things, and obviously a couple of throws he'd like to have back. We'll see where things are here in a couple of days." Dobbs threw for just 2 fewer yards against Dallas than QB Malik Willis TOTALED in his 3 starts. We're guessing the Titans roll with Dobbs in next weekend's must-win game vs. the Jaguars, but we'll keep you updated.

49ers QB Brock Purdy (oblique, rib) upgraded to full practice participation on Thursday. We fully expect the wunderkind rookie to be under center in Week 17 vs. the Raiders. We'll keep an eye on Friday's injury report in case something changes.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (knee) once again practiced in a limited fashion on Thursday. Teammate RB Jordan Mason (hamstring) logged limited practice as well. Friday's injury report will shed light on the availability of this pair of backs for Week 17's game vs. the Raiders. We certainly feel better about McCaffrey suiting up considering he's played through this ailment for some time.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (ankle, knee) returned to team practice in a limited fashion on Thursday. After sitting out since Week 14 vs. the Buccaneers, fantasy managers might get the dynamic wideout back for championship week. We'll keep an eye out for news tomorrow regarding Samuel's status for Week 17 vs. the Raiders.

Titans QB Joshua Dobbs will start Thursday night's game vs. the Cowboys, according to multiple reports. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport suggests that QB Malik Willis is sitting to ensure that he's healthy for next weekend's must-win game vs. the Jaguars. Dobbs joined the Titans off the Lions' practice squad on December 21. This will be his first NFL start. You should stay far away from the Titans passing game in Week 17 fantasy lineups.

49ers QB Brock Purdy (oblique, rib) was listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday. The gutsy rookie has played hurt for a few weeks now, so he'll probably get the green light to take on the Raiders in Week 17. Just in case something changes, we'll keep watch on the news wire for updates.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (knee) logged limited practice participation on Wednesday. The affectionately nicknamed CMC has played through this ailment for weeks, so his availability for Week 17 vs. the Raiders doesn't seem to be in jeopardy. We'll still keep an eye on this if anything goes south.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said last week that WR Deebo Samuel (ankle, knee) has a shot at being available for Week 17 vs. the Raiders. The team is being cautious with their star wideout as they prepare for a postseason run. It's unsurprising that Samuel opened the week without activity, but it'll be worth keeping an eye on. Check back in tomorrow for more information.

Rookie QB Brock Purdy has now appeared in 4 games since Jimmy Garoppolo's injury, and he has finished each of them with 2 TD passes. He threw for 234 yards and 2 scores on 15-of-22 passing in Saturday's win over the Commanders, marking his 3rd consecutive start with 26 or fewer attempts. Purdy has also delivered passer ratings of 114.6 or better in each of his starts. Both of his Week 16 scores went to TE George Kittle, the 2nd straight week in which the pair connected for 2 TDs. Week 17 holds an upside matchup with the Raiders, who have been the 3rd-best scoring matchup for QBs by our adjusted fantasy points allowed.
