Pittsburgh Steelers Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth reinjured his hamstring in Thursday's practice, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. Freiermuth will miss this weekend's game vs. the Rams and "likely will be sidelined longer," per Pelissero. Freiermuth can be dropped in shallower fantasy leagues. His absence is good news for WRs Diontae Johnson and George Pickens' target shares.

Bears QB Justin Fields is not planning to have surgery on his injured thumb, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "The key to when he can get back on the field is when he's able to grip the football," Rapoport adds. Surgery would have had Fields out for an extended period of time, so this is good news, even if we don't have a firm timetable for Fields' return. He's worth keeping stashed in most fantasy leagues.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth (hamstring) went from a full practice on Wednesday to a limited practice on Thursday. It's unclear if this is part of a maintenance plan, or if Freiermuth suffered a setback with that hammy. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth (hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. He's on track to return for this weekend's game against the Rams' 31st-ranked TE defense.

Bears QB Justin Fields (thumb) did not practice on Wednesday. The team has basically already ruled him out for Sunday's game vs. the Raiders, which leaves undrafted rookie QB Tyson Bagent as Chicago's likely starter.

Bears HC Matt Eberflus labeled QB Justin Fields doubtful for Sunday’s game vs. the Raiders with his dislocated thumb. Fields’ status beyond Week 7 is “really going to come down to grip strength,” Eberflus added. We’ll look for a more concrete timeline for Fields’ return. He’s worth hanging on to in most fantasy leagues for the time being. Undrafted rookie QB Tyson Bagent figures to make his first career start this weekend. He had a solid preseason but looked overmatched against the Vikings on Sunday, averaging 5.9 yards per pass attempt with an INT and a lost fumble. Chicago skill-position players will be tough to trust in fantasy lineups with Bagent under center.

Bears QB Justin Fields dislocated his right thumb in the Week 6 loss to the Vikings, insider Jay Glazer reports. Fields popped the thumb back in and tried to play through it, but he was unable to grip the ball, per Glazer. X-rays on the thumb came back clean, but Fields will get an MRI on Monday to get a better look at the damage. This could obviously be a problem going forward considering it's Fields' throwing thumb. We should learn more about his status tomorrow.

Bears HC Matt Eberflus said X-rays on QB Justin Fields’ right hand came back clean. He'll undergo an MRI on Monday. We should have a better idea of Fields' status going forward by Monday night. QB Tyson Bagent replaced Fields today, finishing 10-of-14 for 83 yards, 0 TDs, and one INT. He added two carries for four yards and a TD.

Bears QB Justin Fields suffered an apparent right hand injury in the third quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Vikings. He headed back to the locker room with trainers. Stay tuned for an update.

Update: Fields has been ruled out with a hand injury.

The Rams traded WR Van Jefferson and a 2025 seventh-round pick to the Falcons for a 2025 sixth-rounder, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Jefferson played just two snaps for Los Angeles last week with WR Cooper Kupp back. He'll find opportunity for playing time in Atlanta, with Mack Hollins currently serving as the No. 2 WR. But, considering WR Drake London and TE Kyle Pitts have struggled to find enough volume, Jefferson is a long shot for fantasy relevance.

Week 5 turned up a memorable game for Steelers WR George Pickens. He snagged 6 of 10 targets for 130 yards, plus a game-winning deep-ball score. Call it a fortunate outcome for fantasy owners, as Kenny Pickett continued to struggle while playing through a knee injury. Pittsburgh failed to find the end zone before Pickens’ score late in the 4th. Pickens will remain a boom/bust fantasy option following a Week 6 bye. Diontae Johnson (IR, hamstring) should return for that one.

Steelers Edge Alex Highsmith (groin) is active for today's game against the Ravens. He's fine to use as planned in IDP lineups.

Steelers Edge Alex Highsmith is questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens with a groin injury that popped up during the week. He missed Thursday's practice but returned to a limited Friday workout. Highsmith said Friday that he "absolutely" should be ready to play, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. We'll confirm his status Sunday morning.

Steelers RB Najee Harris was added to the injury report and limited in Friday's practice with a hamstring. He has no game designation, though, so the Steelers expect him to play vs. the Ravens. Harris can stay penciled into fantasy lineups for now. We'll let you know if something changes with his status.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game vs. the Ravens. Pittsburgh has a Week 6 bye, and Freiermuth should have a chance to be back for Week 7. His absence this weekend leaves TE duties to Darnell Washington and Connor Heyward. Neither is a reliable fantasy play.

Bears QB Justin Fields threw four TDs for the second straight game in Thursday night's easy win over the Commanders. He'd thrown four TDs in exactly 0 NFL games prior to these last two -- and only reached three TDs once. Fields was locked onto top WR D.J. Moore against Washington, connecting with him on eight of 10 throws for 230 yards and three scores. Fields' other TD went to TE Cole Kmet. There was a lot of bad defense from the Commanders in this one, but Fields is certainly looking more comfortable in the pocket and throwing downfield a lot more than he did last season. He added 57 rushing yards on 11 carries in this one for a monster fantasy day. Fields has a good chance to stay hot going forward in favorable upcoming matchups vs. the Vikings, Raiders, and Chargers.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with his hamstring injury, according to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac. The Steelers have a Week 6 bye, so it's possible that Freiermuth ends up missing just one game. He'll be replaced by some combination of rookie TE Darnell Washington and TE Connor Heyward. Neither guy is a recommended fantasy add.

Steelers WR George Pickens mustered only 3 grabs for 25 yards on 7 targets. The Steelers lost Kenny Pickett (knee) to injury in the 3rd quarter, but this offense struggled to get anything going regardless of QB. Pickens went 0 for 2 on targets from backup Mitch Trubisky. Even if Pickett gets cleared for Week 5, Pickens will remain a shaky fantasy option vs. Baltimore. Note that Diontae Johnson (hamstring) will remain out.

Steelers RB Najee Harris led the team in rushing yards (71) and receiving yards (32) in Week 4. It was a strong individual effort from Harris, who had to overcome a leaky O-line and a 3rd quarter injury to Kenny Pickett. Harris lost 6 targets to Jaylen Warren but held the carry edge, 14-8. Baltimore arrives in Week 5 to provide a stiffer test.

Bears QB Justin Fields turned in an elite passing line vs. the Broncos in Week 4: 28-of-35 (80%) for 335 yards (9.6 YPA), four TDs, and one INT. The passing yards and TDs were career bests. Fields ran just four times for 25 yards ... because he didn't need to run. There were Bears pass catchers running wide open all day. Credit to Fields for hitting the open guys. But this game was more about Denver's defense than Fields' performance. We'll see if this outing kick starts his season, but Fields unfortunately won't get to play the Broncos again this year. He gets a middling Commanders defense in Week 5 before three straight plus matchups against the Vikings, Raiders, and Chargers.
