Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (ribs) did not practice on Thursday. He played through this injury last week and should be fine for Monday night's game vs. the Giants, but we'll keep you updated on his status over the next few days.
Steelers WR George Pickens led the team in receiving with 75 yards and 4 catches in Week 3’s win vs. the Raiders. Second-year wideout Calvin Austin III had a nice performance as well, hauling in 2 of 6 targets with a 72-yard TD. Fantasy managers also saw a bounce back from TE Pat Freiermuth in the contest. He totaled 3 catches for 41 yards and a score on Sunday night. This is the best that the Steelers’ passing offense has looked all season. Still, we’re not going to get overly excited about this one, given the poor state of the offense. We’ll see if this unit can build upon their achievements in Week 4 vs. the Texans.
Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf delivered 6 receptions for 112 yards among 8 targets in Sunday's win over the Panthers. All three numbers marked season highs for Metcalf, who drew 22.2% of QB Geno Smith's pass attempts. WR Tyler Lockett trailed Metcalf by just one target but managed only 3 receptions for 34 yards. TE Noah Fant ranked second on the team with 4 receptions. Seattle gets a positive matchup with the Giants in Week 4, ahead of a Week 5 bye.
Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (ribs) is active for today’s game vs. the Panthers. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so we’re expecting him to play his usual role today.
Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson (thigh) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Lions. Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier will continue to handle 100% of Atlanta’s RB work.
Steelers RB Jaylen Warren is in for more work in the running game vs. the Raiders on Sunday night, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. RB Najee Harris is "still very much a big part of their plans," Garafolo adds. We'll see exactly how this backfield shakes out tonight. Harris and Warren sit close to each other in RB3 territory in the Week 3 Rankings.
Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (ribs) will play vs. the Panthers on Sunday, according to insider Jordan Schultz. Metcalf was a full participant in Friday's practice and should play his usual role tomorrow.
Eagles RB Kenneth Gainwell (ribs) is not listed on the final Week 3 injury report. He'll be back for Monday night's game vs. the Bucs. We're expecting RB D'Andre Swift to start that game after his big Week 2. But this backfield remains one of the toughest to project. RB Boston Scott (concussion) has been ruled out, so RB Rashaad Penny should be active as the No. 3 RB on Monday.
Eagles RB Kenneth Gainwell (ribs) was upgraded to full participation in Friday's practice. He's on track to return for Monday night's game vs. the Bucs. Gainwell operated as Philly's clear lead back in Week 1, but RB D'Andre Swift exploded for 175 rushing yards with Gainwell out last week. We're guessing that Swift gets the first crack at lead duties on Monday, but this remains a difficult backfield to project.
Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (ribs) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Panthers. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice after sitting out the previous two days. Metcalf should play against Atlanta, but we should get another update on his status on Sunday morning.
Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson (thigh) is questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Lions. He was added to the injury report and did not practice on Thursday, before returning to a limited practice on Friday. We’ll get Atlanta’s inactives around 11:30 am on Sunday, but Patterson shouldn’t be in your Week 3 fantasy plans.
Eagles RB Kenneth Gainwell (ribs) got in a limited practice on Thursday. That gives him a shot to return for Monday night's game vs. the Bucs. We'll track Gainwell's progress over the next few days. RB D'Andre Swift, of course, had a massive Week 2 with Gainwell out.
Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (ribs) missed his second straight practice on Thursday. HC Pete Carroll said earlier this week that he expected Metcalf to play vs. the Panthers on Sunday, but his status is worth checking back on tomorrow.
Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (ribs) did not practice on Wednesday. Both he and HC Pete Carroll said that Metcalf will be available for this weekend's game vs. the Panthers. He can stay penciled into fantasy lineups, but we'll track his status over the next few days.
Steelers HC Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that RB Jaylen Warren deserves more touches going forward. He racked up 86 yards on 10 touches in Monday night's win over the Browns, while Najee Harris totaled 44 yards on his 11 touches. "You know, he's just making plays when given the opportunity," Tomlin said of Warren. "And I think that's a reasonable expectation. There's a guy that did similar things as a young guy a year ago and as a rookie and has done some really good things in the team development process. And so, it's probably a natural maturation process for it to transpire in stadium, and it's probably a natural maturation process for us to give him more opportunities for it to transpire in stadium." You'll find Harris and Warren extremely close in our Rest-of-Season RB Rankings.
Steelers WR George Pickens stepped up without teammate Diontae Johnson (hamstring) in the lineup, tallying 4 catches for 127 yards and a TD on a team-leading 10 targets vs. the Browns. No other Steelers’ wideout registered more than a pair of receptions. Given the poor QB play that Kenny Pickett has brought to the table to open 2023, relying on receiving production from anyone on this roster is a challenge. Even so, Pickens displayed his big-play ability with a 71-yard TD tonight and will be worth the gamble again in Week 3 vs. the Raiders.
Steelers S Minkah Fitzpatrick left Monday night's win over the Browns with a chest injury. He was ruled out before the end. We'll see about the severity, but that doesn't bode well for Week 3 at least.
Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf suffered a rib injury in the first half of Sunday's game vs. the Lions and is questionable to return. We'll update his status when we know more.
Update: Metcalf returned to the game later in the first half
Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson is inactive for today’s game vs. the Packers. He was left off the final injury report, so this is a healthy scratch. It’s good news for RBs Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier.
Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth (chest) practiced all week and isn't listed on the final injury report for Monday night's game vs. the Browns. He should be leaned on more heavily with WR Diontae Johnson out.
