Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (forearm) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Cowboys. We’ll look for reports on Philadelphia’s plans for Goedert in his first game since Week 9, but we’re tentatively expecting him to play a full slate of snaps. See where Goedert lands in the Week 14 TE Rankings.
Patriots WR DeVante Parker (knee) is inactive for tonight's game vs. the Steelers. He joins WRs Demario Douglas (concussion) and Kayshon Boutte (shoulder) on the sidelines for this one. That leaves New England with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton, Jalen Reagor, and special-teamer Matthew Slater as the only four active WRs. It remains a situation to avoid with the Patriots sporting a 12.25-point implied total.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (forearm) confirmed in a Tuesday radio appearance that he expects to return for Sunday night's showdown with the Cowboys. “It’s been healing really well," Goedert said of his broken forearm. “It’s probably feeling like 85-90 percent of the way there. Feeling really good back to normal. ... I’m able to do everything I need to do in my position group, so I’m planning on going down to Dallas and playing every snap that they allow me to. Hopefully I don’t have a limit on my snaps. I know when I came back last year I didn’t, so hopefully it’s kinda the same thing.” We'll look for further updates on Philadelphia's plan for Goedert in his first action since Week 9. He'll come with a bit more risk in fantasy than usual this week, but Goedert will belong in plenty of starting lineups. See where he currently sits in the Week 14 TE Rankings.
The Eagles have agreed to a one-year deal with LB Shaquille Leonard. That gives the veteran LB a strong opportunity to reach the starting lineup. Philly already has LB Nakobe Dean (foot) on IR and missed LB Zach Cunningham (hamstring) in Sunday's loss to the 49ers. That left Nicholas Morrow as the position's only full-timer and Christian Elliss next at 75% snap share. We'd guess that opportunity was a key to Leonard choosing the Eagles, and we'll watch for word on his immediate role. Of course, Leonard hit the open market in part because his performance -- and fantasy production -- lagged well short of past seasons in Indianapolis. So don't get too excited about the veteran in your IDP league. But he's OK to pick up in deeper formats.
Eagles WR DeVonta Smith enjoyed a third straight strong outing Sunday, with TE Dallas Goedert (forearm) still out. Smith tallied a team-high 9 receptions for 96 yards on 11 targets in Sunday. He has reached 8 targets in a game six times this season. Half of those have come in the three games since Goedert went down. Philly expects to get Goedert back for Week 14 against the Cowboys. That could challenge Smith's target share. But it'll be tough to bet against Smith after five straight top-18 PPR finishes. He gets a challenging matchup with Dallas in Week 14 before a softer finish: three slightly positive matchups with the Seahawks, Giants, and Cardinals.
On Sunday evening, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette tweeted that Steelers QB Kenny Pickett is scheduled to undergo ankle surgery on Monday. He is expected to miss 2-4 weeks, effectively making backup Mitchell Trubisky the starter. The Steelers are set for a quick turnaround, with their next game coming Thursday night vs. the Patriots. Consider Trubsiky as a low-end QB2 option.
Steelers QB Kenny Pickett will miss an "extended period" with his ankle injury, according to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac. We'll look for a more detailed diagnosis and timetable for Pickett's return, but it sounds like it'll be QB Mitchell Trubisky under center for the Steelers for the foreseeable future. He's completed 63.8% of his passes at 6.7 yards per attempt over the past two seasons in Pittsburgh. Trubisky will be a bottom-barrel QB2 in fantasy football but probably won't be a significant downgrade from Pickett for the offense.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts headed to the locker room during the second half of Sunday's game vs. the 49ers for a concussion check. We'll update his status as soon as we know more. QB Marcus Mariota is Philly's backup.
Update: Hurts returned in the fourth quarter.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (forearm) is inactive for today’s game vs. the 49ers. He returned to a limited practice on Friday and seemingly has a good chance to return for next weekend’s rematch with the Cowboys.
Steelers QB Kenny Pickett hurt his ankle in the second quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals and is questionable to return. We'll update his status when we know more. QB Mitchell Trubisky will replace Pickett.
Update: Pickett has been ruled out. He's on the sidelines with his right foot in a walking boot.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (forearm) is listed as doubtful for this weekend’s game vs. the 49ers. He returned to a limited practice on Friday, with Philadelphia aiming to have him back for next week’s rematch with the Cowboys. Grab Goedert now if he was dropped in your fantasy league.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (forearm) remained sidelined for Wednesday's practice. He's reportedly been pushing to play vs. the 49ers this weekend, but a Week 13 return vs. the Cowboys is much more likely.
NFL Network's James Palmer reports that Eagles TE Dallas Goedert "will push to play" against the 49ers next Sunday. That would put him four weeks beyond the forearm fracture he suffered in the Week 9 win over Dallas. Palmer adds: "We'll see if that's possible as the week goes. It does seem very realistic for him to be on the field in two weeks" for the rematch with the Cowboys. The takeaway: You might get Goedert back for Week 13, but make sure you have another TE option available. He'll likely be on track for your Week 14 lineup. Obviously we'll keep watching Goedert's situation right up to each game's inactives.
Eagles WR DeVonta Smith tallied 7 receptions for 106 yards and a TD in Sunday's win over the Bills. The yardage marked his highest output since Week 2 but also the third time in the past four games that the delivered 99+ yards. Smith's 8 targets trailed WR A.J. Brown by one. But the pair combined to draw a target on 54.8% of QB Jalen Hurts' pass attempts. It was the second straight game that TE Dallas Goedert missed, which likely helped Smith's target count. Goedert is expected to remain out for the Week 13 clash with the 49ers but has a chance to return for a Week 14 visit to Dallas.
Eagles lead WR A.J. Brown caught five passes Sunday for just 37 yards. But he snagged one of three TD passes from QB Jalen Hurts in an inconsistent passing performance against the Bills. And his 9 targets edged WR DeVonta Smith for the team lead, in a game that saw the two wideouts draw a target on 54.8% of Hurts' pass attempts. It wasn't the kind of performance you expect from Brown, but the output shouldn't concern you going forward -- especially considering the rainy conditions. Philly's remaining schedule holds a negative Week 14 spot against the Cowboys, but the other four games all feature positive ratings by our adjusted fantasy points allowed.
Patriots WR DeVante Parker (concussion) is active for today’s game vs. the Giants. It’ll be his first action since Week 8. Parker has scored double-digit PPR points just once all year and isn’t a viable fantasy play. His return does add a bit more target competition for WR Demario Douglas.
Patriots WR DeVante Parker (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Giants. He remained limited in practice all week, so he still has some work to do to clear the concussion protocol. Parker isn’t on the fantasy radar, but his return would add a bit more target competition for WR Demario Douglas.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (forearm) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bills. Philadelphia is hoping to get him back for the Week 14 showdown vs. the Cowboys. TE Grant Calcaterra is also out for Week 12, leaving the Eagles with TEs Jack Stoll and Albert Okwuegbunam. Neither is a reliable fantasy play.
The Colts have waived LB Shaquille Leonard. The veteran LB's playing time has been down vs. previous seasons, but he played at least 69% of the snaps in seven of his nine appearances -- including Indy's last game. Leonard played poorly in that contest, though. And for the season, Pro Football Focus has him at the highest missed-tackle rate of his career. Leonard still figures to catch on elsewhere -- likely after he clears waivers so that the new team doesn't have to pay the rest of his sizable contract. We'll see whether the 28-year-old can land somewhere with a path to full playing time. His departure should elevate E.J. Speed to No. 2 LB behind MLB Zaire Franklin.
Eagles WR A.J. Brown hit a bump in Week 11, hauling in just 1 of 4 targets for 8 receiving yards vs. the Chiefs. For as disappointing as this performance is, crummy weather impacted pass-catchers on both teams. Yes, Eagles wideout DeVonta Smith (6 catches for 99 yards) had a fine outing, but he was the only player to amass greater than 60 receiving yards in this contest. So don’t let this showing stop you from going right back to Brown as a top-flight WR1 in Week 12 vs. the Bills. Remember: the superstar had posted no fewer than 18.7 PPR points in a game since Week 2 prior to Monday night.
