Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Colts QB Anthony Richardson (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game vs. the Ravens. We’ll see if the rookie can get cleared for Week 4. Richardson will be replaced by QB Gardner Minshew, who played well in relief last week and has experience in HC Shane Steichen’s offense from their time together in Philadelphia. Minshew is only a viable play in 2-QB and Superflex leagues, but he should keep this Colts offense afloat.
Colts RB Evan Hull will miss the rest of the season with a torn meniscus, insider Jordan Schultz reports. Go ahead and drop the rookie in all redraft leagues. The Colts are down to RBs Zack Moss, Deon Jackson, and Jake Funk for now. RB Jonathan Taylor is eligible to come off IR after Week 4.
Colts RB Zack Moss carried the ball 18 times for 88 rushing yards and 1 TD in Week 2’s win vs. the Texans. He also snagged all 4 of his targets for 19 receiving yards on Sunday. Perhaps the most intriguing stat from this game is that Moss is the only Colts RB who received a touch of any kind. It’s rare to see a back seize 100% of a workshare these days, so that’ll be worth remembering as we head into Week 3 vs. the Ravens. RB Jonathan Taylor isn’t eligible to return from IR until Week 5, and other than Deon Jackson, Moss is the only healthy back of note on this Indianapolis roster. He'll be a priority add off of the waiver wire this week.
Colts RB Zack Moss (forearm) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final Week 2 injury report. Considering how poorly RB Deon Jackson played last week, we’re projecting Moss to lead Colts RBs in carries vs. the Texans on Sunday. Jackson still figures to mix in, though, especially on passing downs. So Moss is an uninspiring RB3 play.
Colts RB Zack Moss (forearm) put in a full practice on Wednesday. That should have him on track to play vs. the Texans this weekend. He'll join Deon Jackson and Jake Funk in Indianapolis' backfield. Considering how poorly Jackson played in the opener, Moss might be the favorite to lead the RBs in carries on Sunday.
The Colts placed RB Evan Hull on IR with the knee injury he suffered in the opener. He's out for at least the next four games and can be dropped from all redraft rosters. RB Jake Funk was promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding move. He joins Deon Jackson and Zack Moss in the Colts' RB room. We'll see if Moss is ready to return from his broken forearm for Week 2. Funk is not worth adding to fantasy rosters.
Colts HC Shane Steichen said Monday that rookie RB Evan Hull "could miss some time" with the knee injury that knocked him out of Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. That obviously doesn't tell us much. But it sounds like the kind of thing a coach says when he doesn't expect a player back soon. Hull's absence leaves Deon Jackson in charge of the backfield, which he led with 18 touches for a meager 28 total yards in Week 1. Jake Funk looks like the No. 2 for now. Zack Moss should be back soon, though. And, of course, Jonathan Taylor is eligible to return in Week 5. The Colts also have Jason Huntley on the practice squad. Unless you play in a deep league, Hull looks droppable for help from the waiver wire this week.
Colts RB Zack Moss (forearm) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Jaguars. That leaves the backfield to Deon Jackson and Evan Hull. JacksoN is the favorite for touches but is an unexciting RB3 in fantasy lineups.
Colts RB Zack Moss (forearm) has been downgraded to doubtful for Week 1. It looks like it'll be RBs Deon Jackson and Evan Hull vs. the Jaguars on Sunday, with QB Anthony Richardson also likely to be a big factor in the running game. Jackson is the favorite to lead in touches but is an unexciting RB3 or flex play.
Colts RB Zack Moss (forearm) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Jaguars after a limited week of practice. We’re tentatively expecting Moss to play and work in a 3-RB committee with Deon Jackson and Evan Hull. That’d be a situation to avoid in Week 1 fantasy lineups. Jackson and Hull would become slightly better fantasy plays if Moss ends up inactive.
Colts RB Zack Moss (forearm) put in a limited practice on Wednesday. He's expected to be ready for this weekend's game vs. the Jaguars, working in a 3-RB committee alongside Deon Jackson and Evan Hull.
Colts RB Zack Moss (arm) returned to practice on Monday, per HC Shane Steichen, putting him on track to play in this weekend's opener vs. the Jaguars. Moss had been sidelined since breaking his arm in late July, so it's unclear how much work he'll be ready for. RBs Deon Jackson and Evan Hull will also be dressed for the Jonathan Taylor-less Colts. “I think it’s running back-by-committee,” Steichen said. “Whoever’s got the hot hand, let ‘em ride a little bit.” This is a backfield to avoid in Week 1 fantasy lineups.
Colts RB Deon Jackson is in line to start the season opener vs. the Jaguars, according to insider Aaron Wilson. RB Jonathan Taylor is out for at least the first four games of the season. And RB Zack Moss isn't expected back from his broken arm until Week 2 or 3, per Wilson. That leaves Indianapolis' backfield to Jackson and rookie Evan Hull, barring another addition. Hull is the more exciting player, but it sounds like the Colts will favor Jackson's experience in the opener. We're still expecting this to be a committee attack, leaving Jackson as an unexciting fantasy play.
Colts HC Shane Steichen said Thursday that he "hopes" RB Zack Moss (arm) is available by Week 1. Moss broke his arm on July 31 and was expected to miss about six weeks. Indianapolis' season opener on September 10 is right at the six-week mark. We'll see if Moss gets on the practice field next week. The Athletic's James Boyd said last week that a healthy Moss is the "likely" starter as long as RB Jonathan Taylor is out. Evan Hull and Deon Jackson are the only other RBs on the active
Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) will remain on the PUP list, knocking him out for the first four games of the season, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Taylor would be forced to stay on the PUP list even if he's traded. At least two teams have made trade offers for Taylor, but no deal has materialized yet. Keeping Taylor on the PUP list undoubtedly hurts his trade value, making it a curious move by the Colts. We'll continue to keep a close eye on this situation, but Taylor's 2023 fantasy value obviously takes a significant hit with this news. The Colts are now set to enter the season with RBs Zack Moss (who's still working back from a broken arm), Evan Hull, and Deon Jackson. See how the Taylor news has altered the RB rankings.
