Van Jefferson Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Rams WR Van Jefferson will have surgery on his left knee, HC Sean McVay announced to reporters Monday. The issue still doesn't sound major, though. Jefferson is only expected to miss "a few weeks," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapport. The young wideout is "TBD for Week 1." We'll see about Jefferson's status as Week 1 approaches. He remains in play as an end-of-draft option for deeper leagues, though there's obviously risk that the situation limits him into the season. Ben Skowronek and Tutu Atwell look like the top 2 candidates for the 3rd WR role if Jefferson misses regular-season games. We also could see more target share go to Cooper Krupp and/or Allen Robinson in that case.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Rams WR Van Jefferson will “see a specialist on Monday for a knee issue that has been plaguing him.” The wideout has reportedly been “doing maintenance” and is in danger of missing the next few weeks. Rapaport’s report includes the possibility that he’ll need surgery. We’ll watch for more after the visit. Jefferson is only a late-round pick now, carrying limited risk. You might want to back away from him for the next few days at least in best-ball drafts, though. Tutu Atwell might find a significant opportunity boost if Jefferson misses extended time

Jordan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports that Rams WR Van Jefferson is back to 100% after "minor" knee surgery early in the offseason. We hadn't seen anything previously about the knee procedure. Jefferson turned up questionable for the NFC title game with a knee issue but saw full playing time in each of the final 3 playoff contests. It doesn't sound like we need to worry about this for Jefferson's 2022 outlook.

Rams WR Van Jefferson (knee) is active for tonight's NFC Championship game vs. the 49ers. He only got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday, so don't expect Jefferson to be operating at 100%.

Rams WR Van Jefferson (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's NFC Championship vs. the 49ers. He only got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. Jefferson has just 3 catches on 4 targets over the past 2 weeks and will carry added risk if he suits up this weekend.

Rams WR Van Jefferson (shoulder) is active for tonight's Wild Card game vs. the Cardinals. He was listed as questionable after going from full participation in Thursday's practice to limited on Friday and Saturday. Jefferson carries some extra risk in fantasy lineups tonight.

Rams WR Van Jefferson (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Monday night's Wild Card game vs. the Cardinals. He went from full participation in Thursday's practice to limited on Friday and Saturday. We're expecting Jefferson to suit up, but he'd be a risky fantasy bet at less than 100%.

Rams WR Van Jefferson (shoulder) went from a full practice on Thursday to limited on Friday. He either suffered a setback or just took some reps off. We'll learn more when the Rams release their final injury report on Saturday afternoon.

This week's Seahawks-Rams game has been moved from Sunday to Tuesday, according to multiple reports, as the Rams deal with a rash of COVID positives. This game won't be on the DFS main slate but will still count for Week 15 in season-long leagues. We'll see if RB Darrell Henderson, WR Odell Beckham and WR Tyler Lockett are able to clear COVID protocols in time for the game.

Update: This game will kick off at 7 pm ET on Tuesday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that WR Odell Beckham Jr. will make his Rams debut in Monday night's game against the 49ers. HC Sean McVay had hedged on whether Beckham would see game action right away, but Robert Woods' ACL tear obviously applies a big change to the offense. Of course, it's tough to know exactly how much usage we can expect for OBJ in his 1st game. The whole scenario adds upside to Van Jefferson as a deeper WR play.

12:40pm EST 11/13/21

Rams WR Robert Woods is done for the season after suffering an ACL tear in Friday's practice. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Woods got up and finished practice and even talked with reporters afterward, unaware of the injury's severity. Woods' injury obviously gives a big boost to Odell Beckham Jr.'s upside and keeps Van Jefferson relevant. We're not adjusting our outlook for QB Matthew Stafford, thanks to Beckham's arrival.

The Rams have announced that they've agreed to terms with WR Odell Beckham Jr. That should make OBJ a top-3 wideout in 1 of the league's strongest offenses the rest of the way. Beckham's arrival effectively kills Van Jefferson's fantasy relevance. We'll see about the impact on fantasy outlooks for WRs Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, as well as TE Tyler Higbee. Beckham will have a hard time delivering regular fantasy-starter production in such a crowded offense, but he'll present weekly upside at least into WR3 range.

Rams WR Robert Woods (foot) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. HC Sean McVay said earlier this week that he expects Woods to play vs. the Titans on Sunday night, but his status is definitely worth checking back on tomorrow. WR Van Jefferson would turn into a strong fantasy play if Woods is out.
