Taysom Hill Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Saints QB Taysom Hill has been placed on the COVID list. He's joined by QB Trevor Siemian. That leaves 4th-round rookie QB Ian Book to make his 1st career start vs. the Dolphins on Monday Night Football. The Notre Dame product was a mediocre college passer, leaving school with a 63.8% completion rate, 7.8 yards per attempt and 72 TDs vs. 20 INTs. He did run for 1,517 yards and 17 TDs over 4 college seasons -- and then ran a 4.65-second 40-yard dash at his Pro Day. Book goes just 6'0 and 211 pounds, though, so he's no Taysom Hill. Book is only in play for DFS showdown contests. Expect a heavy dose of RBs Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram on Monday night.

Saints HC Sean Payton has tested positive for COVID and will miss Sunday night's game vs. the Bucs. One of the best offensive minds in the game and New Orleans' play caller, Payton's absence will be felt. Consider it a slight downgrade for QB Taysom Hill and RB Alvin Kamara.

Saints QB Taysom Hill (finger) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Jets. “If I wasn’t okay [with Hill’s health], I wouldn’t be playing him,” Sean Payton said Friday. Hill is in the QB1 mix against the league’s 30th-ranked QB defense.

Saints QB Taysom Hill (finger) was listed as a full participant in Wednesday's practice. It's confirmation that he's set to play through his mallet finger, which reportedly isn't nearly as serious as Russell Wilson's. Hill's passing projection is shaky with this injury, although the matchup vs. the Jets helps. But as long as he keeps running, Hill is a good bet for QB1 production.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the mallet finger injury suffered by Saints QB Taysom Hill will not require surgery. That confirms it's less serious than the injury that knocked Russell Wilson out earlier this season. Hill will continue trying to play through it. We'll see how that goes. He showed in the 2nd half of Thursday night's game against the Cowboys, though, that he can help fantasy lineups even if passing is a struggle.

Saints QB Taysom Hill has Mallet Finger, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. If that sounds familiar, it's because it's the same injury that cost Seahawks QB Russell Wilson a month earlier this year. And Wilson hasn't looked the same since returning from that Week 5 injury. Hill's injury "may necessitate surgery at some point," per Rapoport. It sounds like Hill's injury might not be as severe as Wilson's, but it's certainly a major concern going forward. New Orleans might be forced to go back to QB Trevor Siemian. Stay tuned.

ESPN's Mike Triplett reports that Saints QB Taysom Hill will start Thursday night's game vs. the Cowboys. Hill had been battling a foot injury but was a full-go in practice all week. We'll see if he has RB Alvin Kamara, OT Terron Armstead and OT Ryan Ramczyk, who are all listed as questionable with knee injuries.

Saints HC Sean Payton said "we'll see" when asked who will start at QB against the Cowboys on Thursday night. QB Taysom Hill (foot) has been a full-go in practice this week, but Payton still wants to see how his foot is feeling on Wednesday. Hill should be rostered in most fantasy leagues and will be a borderline QB1 if he gets the start on Thursday. We'll keep you updated on the situation.

Saints QB Taysom Hill took 1st-team reps in Monday's practice, ahead of QB Trevor Siemian, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "The Saints appear poised to make a QB change," Rapoport adds. Siemian has racked up some numbers in garbage time over the last 4 weeks but has been largely underwhelming and failed to secure a win. Hill is probably an upgrade as a passer and, of course, adds a ton of value with his legs. On the fantasy side, Hill finished as a top 13 scorer in all 4 of his starts last season, averaging 52.3 yards and 1 TD on the ground per game. He'll be in the Week 13 QB1 mix if he's confirmed as New Orleans' starter.

The Saints and Taysom Hill agreed to a 4-year extension, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. The deal reportedly pays Hill a $40 million base salary for the hybrid role he's currently playing. He can make up to $55 million more if he becomes New Orleans' starting QB. The team's handling of Hill has been curious, starting him over Jameis Winston last season and then keeping him behind Trevor Siemian the past 3 weeks.

Saints QB Trevor Siemian will start Sunday's game vs. the Titans, HC Sean Payton said Friday. Siemian played reasonably well in last week's loss to Atlanta, completing 25 of 41 passes for 249 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs. He's just a low-end QB2 in fantasy lineups, though.

Saints QB Trevor Siemian is expected to start Sunday's game vs. the Falcons, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's a surprise with QB Taysom Hill set to clear concussion protocol. It's unclear if Siemian is just the Week 9 starter or in line to start the rest of the way. He played well in relief of QB Jameis Winston in last week's win over the Bucs, completing 16 of 29 passes for 159 yards and a score. But in a run-leaning offense with no rushing upside, Siemian is an unexciting fantasy play.

Saints QB Taysom Hill (concussion) was a full participant in Thursday's practice. He's either cleared the protocol or is very close. New Orleans hasn't officially named a starting QB for Sunday's game vs. the Falcons, but it'd be a surprise if it's not Hill.

Saints QB Taysom Hill (concussion) put in a limited practice on Wednesday. He's tentatively expected to clear the protocol in time for Sunday's game vs. the Falcons, but we'll continue to keep an eye on his progress. QB Trevor Siemian would draw the start if Hill isn't cleared.

Saints QB Jameis Winston is believed to have a "torn ACL with MCL damage," according to NFL Network's Jane Slater and Ian Rapoport. If confirmed, Winston will miss the rest of the season. New Orleans is expected to get QB Taysom Hill back from his concussion this week, putting him in line to start vs. the Falcons on Sunday. We'll see if the team makes any other moves at QB.

Saints HC Sean Payton called QB Jameis Winston's knee injury "significant" after Sunday's win over the Bucs. Per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, Winston was taken to a local hospital during the game to get an MRI. We should get a more concrete diagnosis tomorrow. Florio also reports that QB Taysom Hill is expected to be cleared from his concussion this week. He figures to step in as New Orleans' starter -- and a fantasy factor -- in that case.

Saints QB/TE Taysom Hill (concussion) is out for Monday night's game vs. the Seahawks. Hill has played 37% of New Orleans' offensive snaps this season -- 48 at WR, 27 at TE, 22 at QB and 12 in the backfield -- so it's a tangible loss for this offense. It's good news for QB Jameis Winston, though, who won't lose snaps to Hill this week.

Saints QB/TE/WR/RB Taysom Hill sustained a concussion in Sunday's game vs. Washington and is done for the afternoon. We'll track his progress through the protocol this coming week.

QB Jameis Winston has been named the Saints' starter, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Winston and QB Taysom Hill seemed to play to a draw in training camp, but Winston won this job with his 123-yard, 2-TD performance in Monday night's preseason game vs. Jacksonville. Having Winston under center is good news for RB Alvin Kamara and New Orleans' WRs. But Winston himself isn't a very attractive fantasy option. He'll be working with an underwhelming group of pass catchers until WR Michael Thomas returns. And Hill still figures to steal snaps, especially in the red zone.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler confirms that Saints QB Jameis Winston "appears well-positioned to start opening day vs. Green Bay." HC Sean Payton has yet to officially name a starter, but it'd be a surprise if it wasn't Winston after his impressive showing in the 2nd preseason game. "Winston is receiving significant locker-room support this week for the Saints starting QB job, with many teammates treating him as if he is the starter or giving indications he will get the job," Fowler adds. If you're drafting this weekend, assume Winston is the Saints' starter. He's not an appealing fantasy option -- but Winston being under center is good news for RB Alvin Kamara and the rest of New Orleans' skill guys.
