Sammy Watkins Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero confirms that Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) is not expected to play vs. the Vikings today. He's listed as doubtful after missing practice all week. Lazard's absence leaves Green Bay with WRs Sammy Watkins, Romeo Doubs, Randall Cobb and Christian Watson. Pelissero also reports that LT David Bakhtiari (knee) and RT Elgton Jenkins (pectoral/knee) will miss today's opener. It's a tough spot for QB Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers list WR Allen Lazard (ankle) as doubtful for Sunday's opener vs. the Vikings. He didn't practice all week and is obviously unlikely to play. Lazard's absence will leave Sammy Watkins, Romeo Doubs, Randall Cobb and Christian Watson as Green Bay's top 4 WRs. Check out where those guys sit in the Week 1 WR Rankings.

Packers WR Allen Lazard did not practice on Wednesday and is on the injury report with an ankle. He seems to be in real danger of missing this weekend's opener vs. the Vikings, but we'll get another update on his status tomorrow. Lazard's absence would leave Romeo Doubs, Sammy Watkins and Randall Cobb as Green Bay's top 3 WRs.

Packers HC Matt LaFleur suggested Wednesday that there won't be a clear #1 in the WR corps this season. "I don't think anybody's clear cut in front of the other guy," LaFleur said. "I think it's gonna be very much the ball's gonna get spread around and we're gonna try to feature different guys in different spots." Allen Lazard, Romeo Doubs, Sammy Watkins and Randall Cobb all figure to get significant snaps early in the season. Lazard is the best fantasy bet for now, but don't treat him as more than a WR4.

The Packers had a "Family Night" practice for fans at Lambeau Field that included simulated intrasquad scrimmaging. SB Nation's Acme Packing Co. blog counted up the 1st-team snaps and found rookie Romeo Doubs on for 13, compared with 18 for Allen Lazard and 16 for Sammy Watkins. That lines up with reports out of camp, with Doubs ahead of Randall Cobb (6) and others. It's certainly worth noting that fellow rookie WR Christian Watson is not yet practicing. Doubs has been moving up our WR rankings.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers praised rookie WR Romeo Doubs at training camp. “Every single day, there’s been at least one ‘wow’ play. And that’s rare for a young guy like that,” Rodgers said. “We’ve had some guys over the years do that, but they are all in the top 10 of Packers receiving history. Good start for him.” Missed time from WRs Christian Watson and Sammy Watkins have given Doubs a chance to shine alongside Rodgers. If this continues over the next few weeks, it’s quite possible he sees some run in 3-WR sets.

Packers HC Matt LaFleur said WR Sammy Watkins is ready to come off the NFI list and return to practice. He missed the first few days of camp with an undisclosed injury, allowing rookie WR Romeo Doubs to shine. But this WR corps remains wide open with over a month to go until the season opener.

The Packers have placed WR Sammy Watkins on the active/non-football injury list (NFI). No word yet on a potential timetable, but it’s certainly noteworthy for a player with Watkins’ injury history. We’ll supply an update when we know more.

Matt Schneidman of The Athletic believes WR Allen Lazard will lead the Packers in receptions. Schneidman cites Lazard’s “sturdy hands” and a budding rapport with Aaron Rodgers. The losses of Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling took away 224 targets, so there’s no doubting the opportunity in front of Lazard. New arrivals Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Sammy Watkins don't exactly supply tough target competition. Our current projections agree with Schneidman’s assessment.

The Packers signed WR Sammy Watkins to a 1-year deal. It's worth "up to" $4 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. We'll wait to see all the details of the contract, but it's clearly a cheap deal that doesn't guarantee Watkins a big role. The 28-year-old was phased out of Baltimore's offense during the 2021 season, finishing with just 27 catches for 394 yards and 1 score. He's finished with fewer than 700 receiving yards in 6 straight seasons. Watkins finds plenty of opportunity in Green Bay's current WR corps -- although the Packers are likely to add to the position in the draft later this month.

Ravens WR Sammy Watkins has landed on the COVID list and will miss Sunday's game vs. the Packers. Watkins isn't on the fantasy radar -- but his absence makes WR Rashod Bateman's playing time a bit safer.

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (illness) is INACTIVE for today’s game vs. the Bears. QB Tyler Huntley gets his 1st career start. Huntley went undrafted out of Utah last year and has attempted just 16 NFL passes. He completed a solid 67.2% of his college passes with 46 TDs to 20 INTs. Huntley also ran for 1,146 yards and 16 scores at Utah and is a 95th percentile athlete for his position. There’s rushing upside here, but Huntley is a clear downgrade for Baltimore’s passing game.

Ravens WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is active for tonight's game vs. the Dolphins. Watkins isn't a reliable fantasy play in his first action since Week 5, but his return muddies WR Rashod Bateman's outlook a bit.

Ravens WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's game vs. the Dolphins. He was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, though, so we're expecting him to play. Watkins isn't a bankable Week 10 fantasy play does add some downside to WR Rashod Bateman.

Ravens WR Rashod Bateman (groin) is active for today’s game against the Vikings. WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is inactive. That makes Bateman easier to trust in fantasy lineups, although his groin issue still presents some risk.

Ravens WR Rashod Bateman (groin) is expected to play vs. the Vikings today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. WR Sammy Watkins, meanwhile, is a game-time decision with his hamstring injury. Rapoport adds that Watkins has a "good shot to go." Watkins isn't a viable Week 9 fantasy play, but his return would add downside to Bateman

Ravens WR Sammy Watkins (thigh) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Vikings after getting in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. Watkins “looked good” in Friday’s practice, HC John Harbaugh said, "so I say he has a chance [of playing Sunday].” We wouldn’t trust Watkins in Week 9 fantasy lineups.

Ravens WR Sammy Watkins (thigh) did not practice on Wednesday. That's not a good start for his chances of returning for this weekend's game vs. the Vikings. Watkins' absence would make WR Rashod Bateman easier to trust in fantasy lineups.

Ravens WR Sammy Watkins (thigh) is out for Sunday’s game against the Bengals. That locks rookie Rashod Bateman in as Baltimore’s #2 WR.

Ravens WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) missed practice on Wednesday. We're not expecting him to play vs. the Bengals this weekend at this point. With Watkins out last week, WR Rashod Bateman played 65% of Baltimore's offensive snaps and tied for the team lead with 6 targets.
