Ryan Tannehill Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport calls Titans QB Ryan Tannehill "truly 50/50" for Sunday's game vs. the Texans. Tannehill is dealing with an illness, on top of the ankle injury he suffered last week. If he can't go tomorrow, QB Malik Willis will make his 1st career start. The 3rd-round rookie is a work-in-progress as a passer, completing just 28 of 51 passes (55%) for 318 yards (6.2 YPA) this preseason. But he brings potentially elite rushing ability, carrying 14 times for 159 yards and 1 TD across 125 preseason snaps (about 2 game's worth).

Titans QB Ryan Tannehill (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. Texans. He only got in a limited practice on Thursday and seems legitimately iffy for Sunday. If he can't go, Tennessee would turn to rookie QB Malik Willis. It figures to be a run-heavy game plan from the Titans regardless of who's under center -- but we'd likely see an extreme run lean if it's Willis.

Titans QB Ryan Tannehill (ankle) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. We're tentatively expecting him to start this weekend's game vs. the Texans, but we'll see how he's listed on the final injury report on Friday afternoon.

Titans QB Ryan Tannehill (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. He returned after hurting that ankle last week, so we're tentatively expecting him to play vs. the Texans on Sunday. But we'll get another update on his status tomorrow. Rookie QB Malik Willis will draw the start if Tannehill is out.

Titans QB Ryan Tannehill went just 13-of-20 passing for 132 yards in Sunday's win over the Colts. WR Robert Woods led the team with just 4 targets. He, TE Austin Hooper and RB Derrick Henry caught 3 passes apiece to tie for the team lead. K Randy Bullock handled all the offensive scoring, with 4 FGs and 1 extra point. Tennessee's lone TD came on a 76-yard INT return. Tannehill left briefly with a right-ankle injury but said afterward that he hopes to play in Week 8 against Houston.

Titans QB Ryan Tannehill had a modestly efficient game in Sunday's win over the Colts. He completed 17 of 21 passes for 137 yards (6.5 per attempt) and 2 TDs. Tannehill found WR Robert Woods and rookie TE Chig Okonkwo for his 2 scores. Woods and RB Dontrell Hilliard tied for the team lead with 4 catches apiece. Okonkwo's 3 receptions tied RB Derrick Henry for the next spot, even though Okonkwo trailed both Geoff Swaim and Austin Hooper in routes. WR Treylon Burks left early with a left foot injury.

ESPN’s Turron Davenport believes there’s a 75% chance that QB Malik Willis remains on the bench all season. Ryan Tannehill has started every game since taking over for Marcus Mariota in Week 6 of 2019. And despite some positive words on Willis this offseason, he’s still considered a project. Davenport actually guesses that the rookie’s first start won’t come until late in the 2023 season -- and that's only if Tennessee's been eliminated from the postseason. Of course, a lot can change between now and then. But for 2022, unless you’re playing in a deep superflex format, Willis should go undrafted in fantasy.

Titans QB Malik Willis "passed his first test" in rookie minicamp, Jim Wyatt of the team's official website writes. "I left the two-day camp impressed by Willis, from how he carries himself to his arm," Wyatt added. "For the second day in a row Willis was on the practice field way early. Before and during practices, I like the way he slaps hands with his teammates, encouraging them. He looks like a leader. And, he threw the ball well over the past two days despite throwing an interception on Saturday." Willis won't be a threat to take over as the starter this season unless QB Ryan Tannehill and the Titans really struggle. But Willis could be under center in 2023 and remains a nice dynasty stash.

The Titans stopped Liberty QB Malik Willis’ slide, taking him with the 86th pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. Willis began his college career at Auburn before transferring to Liberty and starting the past 2 years. Willis threw for 47 TDs vs. just 18 INTs over that span, but it’s the rushing that drives his fantasy outlook. Willis racked up 1,822 rushing yards over his 2 starting campaigns and profiles similar to Jalen Hurts. Willis will sit behind QB Ryan Tannehill this year, but Tannehill turns 34 in July and has a $36.6 million cap hit in 2023. Willis has a good chance to be Tennessee’s 2023 starter.

Titans HC Mike Vrabel commented on QB Ryan Tannehill during a Monday press conference. “We have to be great around him, but he’s shown signs of accuracy, of decision-making, to the ability to extend plays and scramble, and leadership,” Vrabel said via USA Today. “So, those are all things you look for in a quarterback, and Ryan showed us that. Unfortunately, we turned the ball over on Saturday.” The 33-year-old was put in a tough position this year, losing Derrick Henry around midseason and getting little from Julio Jones. Tannehill, however, tossed 14 INTs — his most since 2013. He carries a dead-cap hit of nearly $58 million for 2022, making him a lock to return for year 4 in Tennessee. He profiles as a mid-level QB2 in early 2022 fantasy football drafts.

Titans RB Derrick Henry suffered a "potentially" season-ending foot injury in yesterday's win over the Colts, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. "Henry is undergoing an MRI today to determine the full extent of the damage," Schefter adds. We'll update Henry's status as soon as we know more, but this injury obviously has major fantasy implications. Tennessee only has RBs Jeremy McNichols and Dontrell Hilliard behind Henry on the depth chart right now. RB Mekhi Sargent is on the practice squad. None of those guys are fit to handle anywhere close to Henry's volume. The Titans could add a RB before Tuesday's trade deadline. But we'll likely see them shift significantly toward the pass for as long as Henry is sidelined. It's good news for QB Ryan Tannehill and WR A.J. Brown.

Titans WR Julio Jones (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Colts. It's unclear if he suffered a setback or if Tennessee has just decided to get that nagging hamstring injury some rest. Regardless, WR A.J. Brown should dominate targets this weekend.

Titans WR Julio Jones' availability for Sunday's game against the Jets is "up in the air" due to a leg injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. We don't have any other details on the issue -- but we know that it limited Jones' Week 3 playing time. We'll keep an eye on his practice participation this week. With WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) likely out for Week 4, Tennessee might be down to WRs Chester Rogers, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Cameron Batson, Josh Reynolds and Racey McMath. RB Derrick Henry might carry it 40 times.

Titans LT Taylor Lewan suffered a leg injury in pregame warmups-ups and is inactive vs. Seattle

Titans QB Ryan Tannehill has been activated from the COVID list. He should be good to go for next Sunday's opener vs. the Cardinals. RB Jeremy McNichols was also activated from the COVID list and will join Mekhi Sargent behind Derrick Henry on the depth chart.

The Titans announced Thursday that QB Ryan Tannehill has landed on the COVID list. It's not yet clear whether he tested positive or was merely a close contact, so he'll miss anywhere from 5-10 days. Either timeframe should still have him back on the field ahead of the regular-season opener. We'll pass along any further updates on the situation.

The forecast for tonight's Titans-Packers game calls for temperatures in the low 30s with snow and winds of 10-15 mph with gusts of 25-30 mph. Those are less-than-ideal conditions for the passing games, but we're still expecting plenty of points in this one. The game still has a big 53.5-point over/under. We'd stick with all the regulars from these teams in fantasy lineups.
