Russell Gage Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

ESPN's Adam Schefter hears that the Bucs are "optimistic" that WRs Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) will be able to play vs. the Chiefs tonight. "But Tampa Bay wants to test both pregame to make sure," Schefter adds. We won't get the Bucs' inactives until around 7 pm ET, and Godwin and Jones will both carry elevated risk if they are active. So we'd try to keep them on fantasy benches this week. This news makes WR Russell Gage a shakier Week 4 fantasy play but helps QB Tom Brady.

Bucs WR Russell Gage (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game vs. the Chiefs. He got in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday before sitting out on Friday -- the same routine he went through before playing last weekend. Gage should be available come Sunday night.

Bucs QB Tom Brady finished Week 3 with 271 yards and 1 TD on 31 of 42 passing. Playing without Chris Godwin (hamstring), Mike Evans (suspension) or Julio Jones (knee), Brady watched WRs Breshad Perriman and Russell Gage lose fumbles. Gage did score the team’s lone TD late in the 4th, but the 2-point conversion — to send the game into OT — was unsuccessful. Considering the WR injuries and the banged up O-line, Brady’s performance was actually encouraging. Evans will return for Week 4 (vs. Kansas City) but Jones and Godwin remain uncertain.

Playing through a tweaked hamstring, Bucs WR Russell Gage recorded 12 catches, 87 yards and 1 score. The veteran entered Sunday as questionable on the injury report with a hamstring. Tampa Bay, of course, played without Chris Godwin (hamstring), Mike Evans (suspension) and Julio Jones (knee), but it’s still impressive that Gage garnered a 31% target share. Cameron Brate and Leonard Fournette were closest at 15% apiece. Look past Gage’s 3rd-quarter fumble, and this outing couldn't have gone much better. We'll see on the Bucs’ injury situation, but Week 4 turns up an intriguing home matchup with Kansas City.

Bucs WR Russell Gage (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Packers. He got in just 2 limited practices this week, so it’s safe to assume he’s not at 100%. But the Bucs need him with WRs Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Julio Jones out. Gage is in the WR3 mix for Week 3. WR Breshad Perriman is also active for Tampa.

Bucs WRs Russell Gage (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (knee) are expected to play vs. the Packers today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Gage didn't practice on Friday after limited workouts on Wednesday and Thursday, but it looks like that was a planned day off. Perriman got in 3 limited practices after playing through this knee issue last week.

Bucs WR Russell Gage (hamstring) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Packers. He was limited on Wednesday and Thursday but didn’t practice on Friday. It’s unclear if that was a setback or a planned day off. We’ll look for further updates on Gage ahead of Sunday’s 4:25 pm ET kickoff.

Bucs WRs Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. Jones seemingly has a better chance than Godwin to play vs. the Packers this weekend. But, with WR Mike Evans suspended, Tampa could be down to WRs Russell Gage, Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller atop the depth chart.

With Chris Godwin and Julio Jones inactive Sunday, the Buccaneers turned to WRs Scotty Miller (8), Russell Gage (6) and Breshad Perriman (5) as the top 3 in targets. Gage caught 5 balls for 28 yards, increasing his usage vs. Week 1. Miller and Perriman caught just 3 balls apiece, with Perriman's 28-yard TD the highlight among them. Mike Evans got ejected for fighting after a 3-61 receiving line on 4 targets, and the league has suspended him for 1 game. Barring a successful appeal, Tampa Bay might need to lean on the same pack in Week 3 against Green Bay. We'll see about Julio Jones' health as well.

Bucs WR Mike Evans has been suspended 1 game for his role in Sunday's fight with the Saints, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Evans is considered a repeat offender after getting ejected from a game and suspended for fighting back in 2017. We'll see if Evans appeals this ruling, but fantasy owners need to plan on being without him in Week 3 for now. We'll see if WRs Julio Jones (knee) and/or Chris Godwin (hamstring) can make it back for Sunday's game vs. the Packers. If not, the Bucs will be down to WRs Russell Gage, Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller.

Bucs WR Russell Gage (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Saints. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday after sitting out on Wednesday. Although Gage still isn’t at 100%, he has upside today with WRs Chris Godwin and Julio Jones out.

Bucs WR Russell Gage (hamstring) is expected to play vs. the Saints today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He got in just 2 limited practices this week. But, based on this morning's reports, it sounds like he's at least healthier than WR Julio Jones heading into this one. Consider Gage a risk/reward WR3 for Week 2.

Bucs WR Russell Gage (hamstring) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Saints. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday after sitting out on Wednesday. We're expecting Gage to play on Sunday, but don't expect him to be at 100%. He was targeted twice and played just 42% of Tampa's offensive snaps in the opener.

Bucs WR Russell Gage (hamstring) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. That seemingly puts him on track to play vs. the Saints this weekend, but it's tough to believe that Gage is at 100%.

Bucs WR Russell Gage (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday. That's a downgrade from his 3 limited practices last week. Gage's availability for this weekend's game vs. the Saints is now uncertain. WR Chris Godwin (hamstring) didn't practice on Wednesday and won't play on Sunday.

Tom Brady went just 18 of 27 passing for 212 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT in Sunday night's win over the Cowboys. WR Mike Evans led the group in playing time, targets, catches and yards and caught the lone TD. He supplied a solid 5-71-1 receiving line on 5 looks. WR Julio Jones trailed Evans by just 1 route and finished 2nd with 5 targets. WR Russell Gage checked in 3rd among WRs in usage, with Breshad Perriman close by in a game that saw Chris Godwin injure a hamstring. TE Cameron Brate also played a big role, though he drew just 3 targets. We'd bet on more from this passing offense going forward, even if Godwin misses further time. We'd also bet on Gage's role expanding as he moves further away from his hamstring ailment.
