Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Seahawks TE Noah Fant rebounded in the wrong direction Monday night against the Lions. After 6 receptions for 60 yards in the Week 3 win over the Dolphins, he drew just 2 targets in the loss at Detroit. That's especially disappointing when you realize that QB Geno Smith attempted 56 passes on the night. Fellow TEs A.J. Barner and Pharaoh Brown matched Fant's 2 targets, and Barner caught Smith's lone TD pass in the game.
Patriots TE Hunter Henry (knee) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Bills. That again leaves New England with TEs Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown. Neither is a viable fantasy play.
The Patriots have downgraded TE Hunter Henry (knee) from questionable to out for Sunday's game against the Broncos. His absence would seem to be good news for Mike Gesicki, and it might mean a boost in playing time. But Henry and Gesicki don't play exactly the same position. Gesicki has run 71.7% of his pass snaps from the slot so far, according to Pro Football Focus, plus another 19% out wide. Henry has spent 48.1% in the slot; 43.5% inline. TE Pharoah Brown might be the more direct playing-time beneficiary of Henry's absence. Henry'scoming off season highs in targets, catches, and yards, which probably inflates the perception of what he's leaving available. Before last week, Henry was averaging just 4.0 targets and 2.7 receptions per game. Neither Gesicki nor Brown looks all that attractive for fantasy use.
Patriots TE Hunter Henry (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. He never returned to last week's game after going down and is certainly in danger of missing Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. That'd leave New England with TEs Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown. Neither would be a viable fantasy play.
Browns TE David Njoku (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday night's game vs. the Bengals. He'll likely miss multiple games with his high-ankle sprain. Njoku's absence leaves Harrison Bryant as Cleveland's lead TE. TE Pharaoh Brown (concussion, neck) is listed as questionable after returning to a limited practice on Saturday.
The Texans released TE Pharaoh Brown. He missed Week 4 with a shoulder injury but led Houston TEs in pass routes in Weeks 2 and 3. The Texans are now down to TE Brevin Jordan, who's missed the last 2 games with an ankle injury, TE O.J. Howard, who is coming off a 65% route rate and 14% target share this past week, and TE Jordan Akins. Howard is worth stashing in deeper fantasy leagues.
Texans TE Pharaoh Brown (shoulder) is inactive for today's game vs. the Chargers. With TE Brevin Jordan (ankle) also out, Houston is down to TEs Jordan Akins and O.J. Howard.
Texans TE Brevin Jordan (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Chargers. TE Pharaoh Brown and Jordan Akins split pass-catching duties in Jordan’s absence last week. Avoid the situation.
Texans TE Pharoah Brown (shoulder) is active for today’s game vs. the Bears. He figures to lead Houston TEs in snaps with Brevin Jordan out, but Brown would be a weak fantasy play.
Texans TE Brevin Jordan (ankle) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Bears. TE Pharoah Brown (shoulder) is listed as questionable but put in a full practice on Friday and should play. We'll see if TE O.J. Howard gets a bigger role against Chicago, but you should avoid this situation in fantasy lineups.
Texans TE Brevin Jordan (ankle) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. He's in danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Bears. TE Pharaoh Brown also missed Thursday's practice with a shoulder issue. Houston might be down to O.J. Howard as its top TE on Sunday.
Texans TE O.J. Howard caught both of QB Davis Mills' TD passes in Sunday's tie with the Colts. He ran well behind the other 2 TEs in playing time, though. Howard spent just 12 snaps in the game, trailing Brevin Jordan's 40 and Pharaoh Brown's 45. Brown ran 16 routes to Howard's 6, with Jordan leading at 24. It was a great Week 1 for anyone who stashed Howard late in a best-ball draft, but don't consider it a reason to go pick him up.
The Texans have agreed to a 1-year, $4 million deal to keep TE Pharaoh Brown on the roster. Brown quietly led all Houston TEs with 34 targets last season. We'd still bet on Brevin Jordan 1st among Texans receiving TEs for 2022, but it could be a crowded position group once again. Houston previously re-signed TE Anthony Auclair, but he has served primarily as a blocker.
Texans TE Pharaoh Brown (ankle, shoulder) is active for today’s game against the Browns. He split work with TE Jordan Akins in the opener, leaving both guys without any bankable fantasy value.
Texans TE Pharaoh Brown (ankle, shoulder) is questionable for this weekend’s game against the Browns. He only got in a limited practice on Friday. Brown basically split snaps and pass routes with TE Jordan Akins in the opener. So Brown’s absence would help Akins’ outlook -- but hopefully you can do better in fantasy lineups.
