Latavius Murray Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Broncos RB Marlon Mack will miss Sunday's finale vs. the Chargers with the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 17, according to insider Mike Klis. That'll leave Denver's backfield to Latavius Murray and Chase Edmonds. Murray tallied 12 carries and 6 targets to Edmonds' 7 carries and 3 targets in last week's loss to the Chiefs.

Broncos RB Marlon Mack hurt his hamstring in the 1st quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Chiefs and is questionable to return. His absence leaves Denver's backfield to Latavius Murray and Chase Edmonds.

Broncos RB Latavius Murray (NIR/rest) received the day off from practice on Wednesday. It's not unusual for veterans to sit out Wednesday practices, so no need for alarm. We'll check back on Murray's status for Week 17 vs. the Chiefs tomorrow.

The Broncos have fired HC Nathaniel Hackett, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. So Hackett doesn't even make it a full season in Denver. His tenure was a disaster from the start and ends with an embarrassing 51-14 loss to the Rams on Christmas. We'll see who the Broncos tab as their interim HC, but we doubt the move has much of a fantasy impact over the final 2 weeks of the season.

Update: Senior assistant coach Jerry Rosburg has been named Denver's interim HC, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. The 67-year-old has spent much of the last 2 decades as a special teams coordinator and has no head-coaching experience at any level.

Broncos RB Latavius Murray (foot) is active for today’s game vs. the Rams. He got in 2 limited practices this week and was listed as questionable, but we haven’t heard anything about him being limited in this one.

Broncos RB Latavius Murray (foot) was a limited practice on Friday and carries a questionable injury designation for Week 16's game vs. the Rams. On Thursday, Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett said that multiple players, including Murray, were held out of practice due to the turf surface. The game will be played on a turf field at SoFi Stadium, and Hackett believes the limited exposure was best. Definitely an odd quote but it does provide some context. Murray is the RB16 overall in PPR scoring since Week 11 largely on the back of heavy usage. That said, the Rams are the 7th-toughest matchup in adjusted fantasy points allowed to RBs in 2022. Murray is best viewed as a flex option in Week 16.

Broncos RB Latavius Murray (foot) did not practice on Thursday after logging limited participation the day before. We consider Murray an RB3/flex option in Week 16 vs. the Rams. As such, if you have safer options who play in Saturday games, you may want to pivot there. The schedule handed fantasy managers so many Saturday games this week that the waiting game may prove to be difficult on this front.

Broncos RB Chase Edmonds (ankle) has been designated to return from IR. He's been out since Week 11 -- his 2nd game with the Broncos. Edmonds will not be a fantasy option the rest of this season, but his return could ding RB Latavius Murray's volume a tad. We'll see if Edmonds is able to play vs. the Rams on Sunday.

The Cardinals somehow managed to let Broncos RB Latavius Murray run for 130 yards and a TD on 24 carries in Sunday's Denver victory. Murray hit runs of 35 and 21 yards, averaging 5.4 per rush overall. RB Marlon Mack ran 5 times for 37 yards and a TD, adding 4 receptions for 26 yards on 4 targets. His target count tied for 2nd on the team, and Mack ranked 2nd along in catches. Murray caught his only target for 12 yards. RB Devine Ozigbo mixed in for 2 carries for 2 yards.

Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett admitted Monday that "it doesn't look good" for RB Mike Boone to play again this season after going down with an ankle injury in the loss to the Chiefs. That'll leave Denver's backfield to Latavius Murray and Marlon Mack the rest of the way. Murray tallied 8 carries and 5 targets to Mack's 3 carries and 3 targets vs. Kansas City.

Broncos RB Latavius Murray managed only 47 yards on 17 carries (2.8 per rush) in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. He added 14 yards on 4 catches, tying for 2nd on the team in receptions and targets (4). RB Mike Boone returned from IR to handle 6 carries for 18 yards and catch his only target for 8 more. Next week brings the Chiefs to town on Sunday night.

11:35am EST 12/4/22

Broncos RB Mike Boone (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Ravens. It’ll be his first action since Week 7. Boone isn’t a viable fantasy play but could steal targets from RB Latavius Murray.

Broncos RB Mike Boone (ankle) has been activated from IR, putting him on track to return for Sunday's game vs. the Ravens. Boone totaled 7 targets in his 2 healthy games without RB Javonte Williams earlier this season and figures to slide back into a pass-catching role. He's not a viable Week 13 fantasy option but does ding RB Latavius Murray's already unexciting fantasy outlook.

The Broncos have designated RB Mike Boone (ankle) to return from IR. That allows him to practice and gives the team 3 weeks to decide whether to activate him. We'll see how soon he can return to a backfield currently controlled by Latavius Murray.

Broncos RB Chase Edmonds suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Raiders and is expected to miss "multiple weeks," according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Edmonds can be dropped from all redraft rosters. The news makes RB Melvin Gordon's release even more surprising. Denver is down to RBs Latavius Murray and Marlon Mack for now. RB Devine Ozigbo is on the practice squad; RB Mike Boone is eligible to come off IR for Week 13.

The Broncos have waived RB Melvin Gordon. The move comes after Gordon committed another costly fumble in the 1st half of Sunday's OT loss to the Raiders. That leaves Denver with Latavius Murray and Marlon Mack as potentially the only healthy RBs heading into Week 12. Chase Edmonds left Sunday's game early, and Mike Boone has at least 1 more game on IR. We'll see about the status of those 2 RBs over the next week and a half. And we'll also see whether Denver adds another competitor.

Broncos RB Melvin Gordon opened Sunday's game against the Broncos by leading Latavius Murray 5-4 in carries and 3-1 in targets for the 1st half. But he ceded that lead to Murray after fumbling near the goal line late in the 1st half. Denver recovered that fumble but then had a FG attempt blocked on the ensuing play. Murray finished with a 17-49-1 rushing line to Gordon's 8-31. He also drew 3 second-half targets to Gordon's 2. It also appeared that RB Chase Edmonds was in for a larger role before his early ankle injury. We'll see about this backfield heading into a Week 12 trip to Carolina.

Broncos RB Melvin Gordon nearly doubled RB Latavius Murray's playing time in Sunday's loss to the Titans, garnering 43 snaps to Murray's 25. Nearly all of that came in the passing game, with Gordon running 27 routes to Murray's 10, according to Pro Football Focus. His 6 targets ranked 2nd on the team and produced 4 receptions for 46 yards. Murray caught 3 balls for 23 yards on half as many targets (3). Chase Edmonds played 15 total snaps in his 1st game since being traded from the Dolphins. He carried twice for 9 yards and caught 1 of 2 targets for no gain. Murray led the team with 9 rushes to Gordon's 7. Both guys went for 24 yards. Denver faces a soft Raiders run D in Week 11.

The Dolphins are sending RB Chase Edmonds and 2 draft picks to the Broncos for EDGE Bradley Chubb. The Broncos are getting a 2023 first-rounder that initially belonged to San Francisco, as well as a 4th-rounder in 2024. Miami will get a 5th-rounder in 2025. Chubb upgrades a Dolphins pass rush that ranks just 23rd in sacks and has dealt with some injuries. He's in the final year of his rookie deal, so we'd bet on an extension following. Edmonds played his way out of the starting backfield gig in Miami but lands in a Denver offense that presents opportunity. We'll see about the team's RB plans coming out of the Week 9 bye, though we wouldn't bet on any of the Denver backs truly taking over. Chubb's departure should mean more playing time for 2nd-round rookie EDGE Nik Bonitto, who has 1.5 sacks over his past 2 games. Myles Gaskin looks like the #2 RB in Miami now.
