Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Bengals HC Zac Taylor said Monday that RB Joe Mixon "nicked up" his ankle in the win over the Jets but "will be good to go" for Thursday night's game vs. the Dolphins. We'll keep an eye on Mixon's practice participation over the next couple of days, but he can be penciled into Week 4 fantasy lineups for now.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon was fed 27 carries and 9 targets in Sunday’s loss to Pittsburgh. He turned the heavy workload into 145 total yards and 7 catches, the latter mark matching a career high. Sure, Joe Burrow tossed 53 passes in a game that lasted all 70 minutes. But it was still encouraging to see Mixon deliver as a pass-catcher following spotty production there last season. His 9 targets accounted for 17% of Burrow's total pass attempts, a rate in line with Mixon's increased passing game usage through last year's playoffs. Samaje Perine mixed in for only 1 carry and 3 catches (5 targets). Look for Mixon to remain busy this week at Dallas — especially if Tee Higgins (concussion) is sidelined.
The Athletic's Paul Dehner believes the Bengals are no longer interested in making RB Joe Mixon a 3-down back. Dehner notes that Mixon's usage on 3rd downs fell off precipitously late in the season and through the playoffs. Over his final 9 games, Mixon played just 17 3rd-down snaps compared to RB Samaje Perine's 83. But, Mixon averaged 4.3 targets over those 9 games vs. just 2.7 over his first 11. Losing 3rd-down snaps obviously isn't ideal and will probably keep Mixon from joining the top tier of fantasy RBs. But he's still capable of RB1 production as the clear lead back in a strong Bengals offense.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon has been activated from the COVID list. We'll watch his practice participation this week, but he should be ready for his usual workload in Saturday's Wild Card game vs. the Raiders.
Bengals QB Joe Burrow told reporters that he won't play in Sunday's regular-season finale. He said it's to "rest up," but it's also worth remembering that Burrow tweaked his right knee at the end of last week's win over the Chiefs. Cincinnati has a 1st-round home playoff game locked up and would need the Titans to lose to the Texans and the Chiefs to lose to the Broncos to get the #1 seed. RB Joe Mixon (COVID) is already out for Week 18, and we're not expecting WRs Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd to play much, if at all, vs. Cleveland. QB Brandon Allen will get the start.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon was added to the COVID list on Wednesday. The timing here means that he can't be cleared in time for Sunday's regular-season finale vs. the Browns. Mixon should be back for the opening round of the playoffs. His absence this weekend will leave Samaje Perine as Cincinnati's likely lead back and rookie Chris Evans in a change-of-pace, pass-catching role. RB Trayveon Williams is also on the active roster.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report. It looks like he’s ready for his usual role on Sunday. The matchup vs. Baltimore’s 5th-ranked RB defense is a bigger concern than the ankle.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) put in another full practice on Thursday. He's on track to play his usual role vs. the Ravens this weekend.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) put in a full practice on Wednesday. He's evidently good to go for this weekend's game vs. the Ravens after hurting an ankle late in last week's win over the Broncos.
Bengals HC Zac Taylor confirmed on Monday that RB Joe Mixon has a sprained ankle but called his situation "encouraging." Taylor added that Mixon is expected to be limited to open the practice week. This -- plus the fact that he got back on the field for Cincinnati's kneel downs in the win over the Broncos -- has us thinking that Mixon will be able to play vs. the Ravens on Sunday. But we'll keep you updated on his status throughout this week.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon injured his left ankle late in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. He never re-entered but was at least trying to keep the ankle loose by jogging on the sidelines. That at least suggests that this isn't a serious injury, but we should learn more on Monday. Samaje Perine will step in as Cincinnati's lead back if Mixon misses times.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (illness) is active for today’s game vs. the 49ers. He didn’t practice all week, but Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported this morning that Mixon is a "full go" today.
ESPN's Adam Schefter included Bengals RB Joe Mixon (illness) in his list of players "expected to play" on Sunday. Mixon missed practiced all week, but HC Zac Taylor said Friday that he expected Mixon to play. We'll see if we hear anything about Mixon's volume being scaled back vs. the 49ers. But, as of now, he should be in fantasy lineups.
The Bengals list RB Joe Mixon as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the 49ers. He missed practice all week with an illness. Mixon was at least watching on the sidelines on Friday, and HC Zac Taylor said afterward that he expects Mixon to play. We’ll continue looking for updates on his status. 49ers-Bengals doesn’t kick off until 4:25 pm ET on Sunday. Samaje Perine would be Cincinnati's lead back if Mixon is out this week.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (illness) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. Players rarely miss games with non-COVID illnesses, so we're expecting Mixon to play vs. the 49ers on Sunday. But check back tomorrow for another update on his status.
Bengals RB Chris Evans (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game against the Jets. Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine will handle all of Cincinnati's backfield work.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is active for today’s game against the Lions. He was listed as questionable after getting in only 2 limited practices this week. But HC Zac Taylor said Friday morning that Mixon “should get a full workload” vs. Detroit. RB Samaje Perine (COVID) is out, which can’t hurt Mixon’s volume. Consider him a risk/reward RB1 today.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is expected to play vs. the Lions today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Mixon got in just 2 limited practices this week and is listed as questionable. But HC Zac Taylor said Friday that Mixon is ready for a full workload. Consider him a risk/reward RB1 in Week 6 fantasy lineups.
