Jack Sanborn Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Bears LB Tremaine Edmunds (knee) is active for today's game against the Lions. That marks his return after two games down for the injury that knocked him out early in Week 8. There's bound to be some re-injury risk, after Edmunds managed just one limited practice this week. But he's a lower-level IDP option. LB Jack Sanborn is also active. He was listed with an ankle issue and an illness, but the latter seemed to be the cause for his "questionable" tag. Edmunds' return should decrease Sanborn's playing time, though, and keep him from being a worthwhile IDP option.

Bears LB Tremaine Edmunds (knee) returned for a limited practice Friday and is questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions. We'll see about his status next week. LB Jack Sanborn is also questionable. He seemed to be headed in the right direction after a full Thursday practice but then missed Friday's practice with an illness. We'll check his status over the weekend.

Bears LB Tremaine Edmunds (knee) is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Saints. It'll be his second straight missed game. Jack Sanborn played full time with Edmunds out and figures to do so again. Check our Week 10 rankings to see where the Chicago LBs sit.

The Bears have ruled LB Tremaine Edmunds out for Sunday's game against the Saints. Edmunds missed every practice this week, so he'll need a serious rebound to make it back for Week 10 against Carolina. LB Jack Sanborn elevates to a full-time role with Edmunds out and carries upside into LB1 range for IDP lineups. We'll see about Edmunds' status next week.

Update: ESPN's Courtney Cronin reports that HC Matt Eberflus is now calling Edmunds "week to week," another signal that he might remain out beyond this Sunday.

Bears LB Tremaine Edmunds has missed practice Wednesday and Thursday after leaving Sunday night's loss to the Chargers with a knee injury. That doesn't bode well for Edmunds chances of playing Sunday against the Saints. We've knocked him down the Week 9 LB rankings and given Jack Sanborn a big boost. Sanborn should see a full-time role if Edmunds is out. New Orleans enters as a neutral scoring matchup for LBs. Sanborn delivered strong tackle production across six starts late in his rookie season before finishing the year on IR. He averaged 11.8 total tackles per game over the four outings in which he played 90%+ snap shares.

The Bears are signing LB Tremaine Edmunds to a four-year, $72 million deal, according to multiple reports. It's the second starter-LB pact of the day for Chicago, who reached agreement with T.J. Edwards earlier. That clearly positions Edmunds and Edwards as the full-timers for the near future. Bet on Edmunds taking over MLB and Edwards slotting on the weak side. The additions push 2022 rookie Jack Sanborn back into a reserve role. Expect both Edmunds and Edwards to land among the top 30 when our 2023 IDP rankings come out. Both already live in that territory in our dynasty rankings.

The Bears have agreed to a three-year deal with LB T.J. Edwards, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The length of the deal and timing -- right at the start of "legal tampering" -- points to Edwards taking a starting role in Chicago. The Bears have 2022 starter Nicholas Morrow hitting free agency, so there's room for 2022 rookie Jack Sanborn to remain in the starting lineup with Edwards. We'll see, of course, how the rest of free agency and the NFL Draft play out. The deal solidifies Edwards' short-term dynasty outlook, giving him a bump up our dynasty rankings. We'd hang on to Sanborn for now as well. He proved quite productive across five full outings after Roquan Smith left, before an ankle injury cost Sanborn the final three games.

Bears HC Matt Eberflus announced today that the team is placing LB Jack Sanborn on IR for the left-ankle injury that knocked Himont of Sunday's loss to the Eagles. That will end the rookie's season. Joe Thomas stepped in for Sanborn in that game and figures to start over the final 3 weeks. LB Nicholas Morrow becomes the best bet for tackles at the position. You can find him in our Week 16 IDP waiver-wire article.

Bears LB Jack Sanborn injured his left ankle in today's loss to the Eagles and did not return. He was ruled out before the end of the game, which doesn't bode well for his Week 16 outlook. We'll watch for updates on Sanborn's status.
