Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Cowboys will consider giving RB Ezekiel Elliott some time off to help the bone bruise in his knee heal, ESPN's Ed Werder reports. Werder specifically mentions Zeke being held out of next Thursday night's game vs. the Saints. He adds that IR is not being considered "at this time." HC Mike McCarthy admitted earlier on Friday that he's concerned about Elliott's situation. "Zeke's running style is ferocious," McCarthy said. "He gives a pounding, and he takes some hits. We need to evaluate that, and this week we'll see what the preparation looks like for him." We'll continue to keep an eye on the situation, but Elliott owners should start preparing for him to miss Week 13. Tony Pollard will be a RB1 whenever Zeke sits.
The bone bruise to Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott's knee is expected to linger for the rest of the season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones mentioned after Thursday's loss to the Raiders that the team will need to alter the game plan to reduce Zeke's volume going forward. We saw that on Thanksgiving, with Elliott handling 9 carries and 8 targets to RB Tony Pollard's 10 carries and 4 targets. We'll keep a close eye on this split in coming weeks. But, for now, consider Elliott more of a high-end RB2 and Pollard a viable RB3 or flex play.
Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott (knee) isn’t listed on the final injury report. He practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday. Zeke suffered a knee contusion last weekend but was able to return to that game. He should be ready for his usual role vs. the Falcons on Sunday.
Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott (knee) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. He briefly exited last week's game with a knee contusion but was able to return. Zeke should be fine for this weekend's game vs. the Falcons, but his status is worth monitoring over the next few days.
Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott suffered a knee contusion in the 1st half of Sunday's game vs. the Broncos and was deemed questionable to return for the 2nd half. We'll pass along an update when we get one.
Update: Elliott was on the field for Dallas' 1st snap of the 2nd half.
Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott (ribs) is active for today’s game against the Patriots. He was limited in practice all week, but we never heard any concern about his status. Use Zeke in fantasy lineups as you normally would.
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott (ribs) is expected to play against the Patriots today. He was limited in practice all week, but we never heard any concern about his status. Elliott should get his usual workload today.
The Cowboys list RB Ezekiel Elliott (ribs) as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots. He was limited in practice all week. Zeke played through this injury last week and is fully expected to play on Sunday.
Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Giants. He sat out Wednesday with what he described as knee “tightness” and then was limited on Thursday and Friday. We haven’t heard anything about his workload being reduced today.
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott (knee) is expected to play vs. the Giants today. Zeke sat out Wednesday's practice with what he called knee "tightness" but returned to limited workouts on Thursday and Friday. We've heard nothing to suggest that he'll be limited today.
Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott (knee) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Giants. He sat out Wednesday with what he described as knee “tightness” and then was limited on Thursday and Friday. Zeke is expected to play on Sunday but comes with elevated risk in Week 5 fantasy lineups. RB Tony Pollard could pick up extra volume.
Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott (knee) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. He sat out on Wednesday with what he called knee "tightness," but it doesn't look like anything that will impact his status for this weekend's game vs. the Giants. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow.
Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott missed Wednesday's practice with what he described as knee "tightness." He added that he feels "3 times" better today than he did on Monday. He expects to return to practice on Thursday and play vs. the Giants this weekend. This is obviously a situation to keep a close eye on over the next few days, but Zeke can stay penciled into Week 5 fantasy lineups for now
The Cowboys will be without RG Zack Martin for Thursday night's season opener at Tampa Bay. HC Mike McCarthy announced Sunday that Martin has tested positive for COVID. We'll see whether that also jeopardizes his availability for Week 2. Losing Martin figures to impact RB Ezekiel Elliott the most, from a fantasy standpoint. It's a particularly tough blow against a Bucs defense that has consistently ranked at or near the top of the league in run defense in recent seasons. Don't be surprised if we get a slow statistical start for Elliott. At the same time, we're not going to recommend immediately benching a RB you likely drafted in Round 1 -- unless you're loaded at the position. Check our full Week 1 rankings to see exactly where Elliott lands.
Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is down to 218 pounds, the lightest he's been as a pro. “I feel quicker," Elliott said on the 1st day of training camp on Thursday. Several Cowboys beat writers noted that Zeke looked slimmer and faster than last year. That jibes with what we heard from Elliott's trainer earlier this month. All signs are pointing to a big bounce-back 2021 season.
Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott's personal trainer believes he's "way quicker, way more elusive" than he was even a few months ago. "I don’t think Zeke has ever worked like this in the offseason," trainer Josh Hicks added. We thought Elliott looked sluggish at times last season, when he averaged a career-low 4.0 yards per carry and ranked a middling 26th among 47 qualifying RBs in Pro Football Focus' Elusive Rating. So it's good to hear he's putting work in this offseason. “Zeke looks great,” QB Dak Prescott said. “He’s in the best shape of his life. Looking fast." With Prescott back and hopefully better health on the offensive line, Elliott is an obvious 2021 bounce-back candidate.
Cowboys RB Darren McFadden is inactive for tonight's game against the Giants. He wasn't listed on the injury report, so it looks like he's a healthy scratch. Alfred Morris will serve as Ezekiel Elliott's backup tonight. He's not a fantasy option, of course. But it's now unclear who the Elliott handcuff is.
Cowboys RB Darren McFadden took all 19 snaps with the 1st-team offense in Saturday night's preseason game. He carried 6 times for 28 yards, but the usage is what's important. McFadden is clearly locked in as Dallas' #2 RB -- and the lead back during Ezekiel Elliott's suspension. The Cowboys face a tough rushing schedule over their first 6 games, but volume and supporting cast will make McFadden a solid fantasy starter.
The Cowboys have re-signed RB Darren McFadden to a 1-year deal. A fractured elbow limited him to just 3 games last year, but it looks like he'll get another shot at Dallas' backup job. The Cowboys are reportedly looking to trade RB Alfred Morris. While McFadden is no threat to Ezekiel Elliott's workhorse role and won't be a standalone fantasy option, he'll be 1 of the highest-upside handcuffs in 2017 fantasy drafts.
