Detroit Lions Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

The Lions have released LB Jamie Collins. The team tried to trade him, but teams were likely scared off by the big contract. The veteran will now be free to sign with whomever, and will likely find a suitor. We'll see if he can recapture IDP value.

S Tracy Walker remained a starter for the Lions in Week 3, but his playing time fell from 98% and 100% in the first 2 games to just 67% in the loss to Baltimore. Dean Marlowe and Will Harris tied at 76% to lead the position for the Lions. Each played 5 more snaps than Walker. We'll see where this goes, but it'll be tough to trust Walker against the Bears next Sunday.

Lions DE Trey Flowers (shoulder) is inactive for today's game against the Ravens. DE Romeo Okwara (shoulder) is active. DT Michael Brockers (shoulder) is also active.

Lions EDGE Trey Flowers (shoulder, knee), DL Michael Brockers (shoulder) and EDGE Romeo Okwara (shoulder) are all questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens. Flowers missed practice all week and probably shouldn't be in IDP lineups even if he plays. Okwara and Brockers each put in limited practices all week. We'll update the status on all 3 Sunday morning. Detroit has already ruled out LB Jamie Collins after confirming that they're trying to trade the veteran. That should clear the way for rookie LB Derrick Barnes to get his 1st start, though we'd like to see the size of his role before considering him for IDP lineups.

Lions HC Dan Campbell confirmed Thursday reports that the team is trying to trade LB Jamie Collins. That makes sense as Detroit tries to go younger at the position. The Lions reportedly plan to increase playing time for rookie LB Derrick Barnes beginning this week. Alex Anzalone still looks like the best bet for snaps for the time being, though we'll see just how much Detroit is looking to change things up. No Lions LB is especially attractive for IDP use right now. Collins could be a low-cost upside option in a new setting.

Lions DE Trey Flowers is questionable for Monday night's game against the Packers. He's dealing with a shoulder issue that limited him in practice all week. We'll update his status Monday evening, but Flowers isn't worth waiting for unless you need to. Lions DL Michael Brockers (shoulder) is also questionable for the game.

The Lions fear CB Jeff Okudah suffered an Achilles' tendon tear in Sunday's loss to the 49ers. He'll have an MRI Monday to confirm the diagnosis. Losing Okudah would leave a defense that allowed 442 yards to San Francisco -- 311 passing -- without its top cover man. Okudah was the #3 overall pick in the 2020 draft but has dealt with multiple injuries in his young career.

Chris Burke of The Athletic believes that Lions MLB Alex Anzalone "almost certainly" will be wearing the green-dot helmet and calling defensive plays come the regular season. "Anzalone could be out there for close to 100 percent of the snaps (health willing)," Burke adds. Anzalone has history with HC Dan Campbell and DC Aaron Glenn from their shared time in New Orleans. Injuries limited Anzalone's playing time there. The 2 (of 4) seasons in which he played all 16 games found Anzalone staying on the field for just 47.2% and 50.2% of snaps. It sounds like he's headed for a lot more with these Lions, which makes Anzalone an intriguing pick at the end of IDP fantasy football drafts.
