We'll certainly be tracking the QB's status throughout the week. The combo of surgery on his throwing thumb and a good defense on the other side of that matchup would have us wary of playing Prescott in fantasy football lineups right away.
Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb tallied 8 grabs for 87 yards and 1 score in a Week 3 win over the Giants. His 12 targets easily led the team and represented a 38.7% share from Cooper Rush. He dropped an easy downfield ball before halftime, but fantasy owners can’t really complain about his production. The young WR has now tallied lines of 6-112 (2021), 7-75 and 8-87-1 in 3 starts with Rush. Dak Prescott (thumb) might only be a couple of weeks away from returning, and Lamb will clearly remain a fantasy starter in the meantime. Next up is a divisional tilt with Washington.
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott told ESPN's Lisa Salters that he expects to be back from his thumb injury in a couple of weeks. He intimated that could be as soon as Week 4 against Washington. We'd bet on Week 5 actually being the earliest. Prescott did get stitches removed from the injured hand Monday, though. ESPN's Todd Archer reports that the QB's grip strength will play a big part in determining when he can get back into the lineup. We'll keep watching Prescott's progress.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Cowboys QB Dak Prescott had successful surgery Monday to "stabilize" his fractured right thumb. He's reportedly eyeing a return on either Oct. 30 vs. the Bears or Nov. 13 vs. the Packers. Dallas' bye falls in between those 2 games, which could factor into Prescott's return. We'll keep an eye on his status as the time draws nearer. For now, it's Cooper Rush taking over.

He went 7 of 13 for 64 yards in relief of Prescott on Sunday night and posted a 325-2-1 passing line in his lone full game last year. We'll see if Dallas makes an addition at QB.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says QB Dak Prescott needs surgery on his right thumb and will be out "a few weeks," according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. Prescott suffered the injury late in Sunday night's loss to the Buccaneers. It's obviously a huge loss for the Dallas offense, especially high profile fantasy pass-catchers WR CeeDee Lamb and TE Dalton Schultz. Cooper Rush is the backup, but we wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas try to make a move for another QB.

After getting the had checked on the sideline, he jogged to the locker room for further testing. We'll see about the extent of the issue. Cooper Rush came on in relief.
Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy said Monday that he expects QB Dak Prescott (calf) to be a "full go" for Thursday's practice, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That should certainly put Prescott on track to face the Broncos -- now down top pass rusher Von Miller -- on Sunday.

Adam Schefter adds, though, that "some within the organization believe" Cooper Rush will start the game after taking team reps in practice this week. Barring some further update ahead of the early games, waiting for Prescott will be a risky move for your fantasy football lineups today.
The Dallas Morning News' Michael Gehlken tweets, "It would surprise many close to situation if Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (calf) starts Sunday vs. Vikings." On top of his calf issue, Prescott left the team on Friday following the death of his grandmother. He's back with the team now and traveled to Minnesota. But Gehlken notes that backup QB Cooper Rush saw the "most meaningful reps" of the practice week. At this point, we're leaning toward Prescott missing Sunday night's game. But we'll see if we get a more concrete update on Sunday morning.

ESPN's Ed Werder, however, says 2 sources have called it a game-time decision. He quoted one as saying, "We are literally going to take it into tomorrow (night)." If it's truly a game-time decision for Sunday night, that would take the call beyond when most other QBs are starting their games. Waiting on Prescott will bring some risk this week.

"We’ll see how things work at practice, but I’d say things are looking good right now about Dak.” Prescott seems 50/50 to play at this point.
