Chris Carson Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (neck) remained sidelined on Thursday. It's bad news after HC Pete Carroll said yesterday that he expected Carson to practice today. At this point, he seems unlikely to play vs. the Steelers on Sunday night, giving RB Alex Collins another start. We'll get another update on Carson tomorrow.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (neck) did not practice on Wednesday. He did participate in the walkthrough, HC Pete Carroll said, and the plan is to get him on the practice field on Thursday. So it sounds like Carson has a shot to play vs. the Steelers on Sunday night. Check back tomorrow for another update.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said Friday that RB Chris Carson's status for Week 6 is uncertain due to a lingering neck injury. “This is a day-to-day thing with Chris. We have to see how he responds. The short week did not help him at all," Carroll said. "He’s got an old injury that you can see (in exams). It’s kind of, I don’t know if it’s chronic, but it occasionally pops up. It hasn’t been an issue in the past. He didn’t get hit, and that’s how he got hurt. It’s a condition he’s got probably from weightlifting and all of the stuff he’s done over the years. It could have been something a long time ago. It’s just flared up some, so we’re being real careful with him. He was too uncomfortable to play.” We'll keep an eye on Carson when the Seahawks get back to work next week. RB Alex Collins operated as Seattle's lead back with Carson out on Thursday night. Note that RB Rashaad Penny (calf) is eligible to come off IR in Week 7.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (neck) is inactive for tonight's game vs. the Rams. Carson "had a neck issue that flared up recently and he’s pretty sore. The short week obviously doesn’t help," ESPN's Brady Henderson tweeted. RBs Alex Collins, Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas are active for Seattle tonight. Collins figures to handle most of the rushing work, with Homer and possibly Dallas mixing in on passing downs.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (neck) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's game vs. the Rams. He didn't practice on Tuesday or Wednesday, so he seems genuinely iffy for this one. Carson's absence would likely mean a committee backfield comprised of Alex Collins, Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas. We'll get Carson's game status around 7 pm ET on Thursday.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson did not practice on Tuesday and is on the injury report with a neck. We don't have any other details, but it's worth noting that Carson played just 45% of Seattle's offensive snaps last week. If he can't play vs. the Rams on Thursday, it'd likely be Alex Collins as the Seahawks' lead back. We'll get another update on Carson tomorrow.

The Seahawks placed RB Rashaad Penny (calf) on IR. He's out until at least Week 7. RB Chris Carson will continue to dominate carries in the meantime, but he's been losing passing-down snaps to RBs Travis Homer and Alex Collins.

Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (calf) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Vikings. RB Chris Carson will dominate carries again -- although he lost some passing-game work to RB Travis Homer last week.

Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (calf) is inactive for today’s game against the Titans. His absence should mean a few extra touches for RB Chris Carson. RBs DeeJay Dallas, Travis Homer and Alex Collins are active behind Carson.

Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (calf) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Titans. His absence should mean a few extra touches for RB Chris Carson.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny aggravated an existing calf injury Sunday and is expected to be "shut down for a few weeks to fully heal." Don't be surprised if Seattle puts him on IR, which carries a 3-week minimum stay at this point. Penny's absence obviously leaves some opportunity for DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer, but Chris Carson was the only Seattle back to reach 10 snaps in the opener (he played 42). He might get the biggest boost from the Penny injury by virtue of his clear path to a workhorse-level role.

The Seahawks will "roll with" RB Chris Carson this season, RBs coach Chad Morton said. "That's how it goes." It sure doesn't sound like Seattle plans on deploying a committee backfield this season with depth guys like Rashaad Penny, DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer. Injuries, of course, have been a bugaboo for Carson. But he's averaged over 100 total yards and .76 TDs in healthy games over the last 3 seasons. That's RB1 production. Carson is worth considering in the back half of Round 3 -- and is a steal in the 4th round of fantasy drafts.

Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny is currently at 223 pounds, his lightest weight since high school. Penny played in the 230s dating back to his time at San Diego State. "He looks great," HC Pete Carroll said Wednesday. "He worked out here all throughout the offseason, and it really paid off. The best he's looked since we've seen him.” John Boyle of the team’s official site observed Penny looking “faster and more explosive” than he did in 2020. It’s a nice first step for the oft-injured RB as he looks to secure the #2 job behind Chris Carson. As the RB55 in FFPC best balls, Penny’s a fine late-round flier.

Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny had knee surgery this offseason to "get something cleaned up," HC Pete Carroll said Tuesday. Penny isn't participating in minicamp, but the always-optimistic Carroll expects him to be ready for the start of training camp. Penny missed all but 3 games last season after tearing multiple ligaments in his left knee in December of 2019. It's a concern that he's still having issues with that knee. And at this point, it's unclear if he'll regain pre-injury form. Penny is just a late-round dart in fantasy drafts, while RB Chris Carson remains a safe bet for nice volume this season.
