Week 2 FanDuel Picks

By Kevin English | Updated on Fri, 13 Sep 2024 . 9:22 PM EDT
Derrick Henry should deliver as one of the top Week 2 FanDuel Picks

Welcome to the Week 2 FanDuel picks.

Again, FanDuel has included the Sunday night game in the main slate. Expect that to be a mainstay going forward.

So -- let’s jump right into the picks for cash games and tournaments:

Cash Game Quarterback

Jayden Daniels, Commanders ($7,900) vs. Giants

Daniels popped in two rushing TDs in his NFL debut. Zooming out: He showed no hesitation running the ball, notching 88 yards and leading the week in scramble rate (20.6%).

Now facing a suspect Giants defense, Daniels again leads the position in FanDuel $ per point.

Also in my player pool: None

Tournament Quarterbacks

Kyler Murray, Cardinals ($8,000) vs. Rams

Murray disappointed in the opener, but he’s reasonably priced for a return home to face L.A.

The Cardinals are implied for nearly 25 points – one of the highest marks on this slate. We might also see the Rams down starting CB Cobie Durant (toe).

Also in my player pool: Lamar Jackson, Jayden Daniels

Cash Game Running Backs

James Conner, Cardinals ($6,500) vs. Rams

Conner’s priced actractively as a clear lead back for a home favorite.

Last week at Buffalo, Conner handled 16 of 19 team RB carries. He added 4 targets – a 12.9% share.

Jordan Mason, 49ers ($5,500) at Vikings

GM John Lynch said in a Friday radio interview that the team will take the “long view” with Christian McCaffrey.

Wise…and excellent news for Mason’s fantasy prospects. He looked strong in the opener, handling all 28 RB carries for 147 yards and 1 score.

Also in my player pool: Derrick Henry, Isiah Pacheco

Tournament Running Back

Jonathan Taylor, Colts ($8,200) at Packers

Taylor was quiet in the opener, but note that Indy ran only 43 plays. That’s a wildly low number that won’t be repeated.

This game sets up for plenty of rushing, especially with Green Bay starting QB Malik Willis. The Colts are installed as 3-point favorites.

The Packers have questions to answer on run D, too, as they were gashed by Saquon Barkley in the opener (24-109-2).

Derrick Henry, Ravens ($7,500) vs. Raiders

Henry projects as one of the top TD bets on the slate. With positive game script expected – Baltimore enters as 8.5-point favorites – a 20-carry performance shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Last week, the Raiders allowed an efficient 10-135-1 line to J.K. Dobbins in his first action since Week 1, 2023.

Also in my player pool: Josh Jacobs, Jahmyr Gibbs, J.K. Dobbins

Cash Game Wide Receivers

Cooper Kupp, Rams ($7,700) at Cardinals

Like Mason, Kupp is a cash-game lock.

That’s what happens when you remove ~25% of the targets in the form of Puka Nacua. Kupp, of course, garnered an absurd 21 targets against Detroit.

Rashee Rice, Chiefs ($6,900) vs. Bengals

Rice went off for 7-103 on a team-high 9 targets against Baltimore.

Marquise Brown remains out, while Sunday’s matchup looks ripe for production. The Chiefs are implied for 27 points – second most on the slate.

Also in my player pool: Deebo Samuel, CeeDee Lamb

Tournament Wide Receivers

Amari Cooper, Browns ($6,300) at Jaguars

The Jags will be down two starters in the secondary (Darnell Savage and Tyson Campbell).

Cooper didn’t deliver in Week 1, but he led all WRs in air yards on 9 targets. Now, Cleveland will be without TE David Njoku.

Terry McLaurin, Commanders ($6,000) vs. Giants

McLaurin came close to a big-play TD in the opener. He saw just a 16.6% target share in that one, but some turbulence can be expected as Jayden Daniels adjusts to NFL life.

The Giants bring personnel issues in the secondary, though, so a “boom” week is within reach for McLaurin.

Also in my player pool: CeeDee Lamb, Ja’Marr Chase, Brandon Aiyuk, Garrett Wilson, Davante Adams, Tank Dell

Cash Game Tight End

Brock Bowers, Raiders ($5,300) at Ravens

Bowers ran a route on 31 of 40 Gardner Minshew dropbacks in his NFL debut.

It’s a strong rate considering Bowers landed on the injury report with a foot.

Appearing healthy, the rookie saw 7 targets – one every 4.5 routes – snagging 6 balls.

Again – strong.

Vegas is almost a lock to trail in this game, so another 7 targets are in play. Ultimately, Bowers’ price makes him the top cash option.

Also in my player pool: Trey McBride

Tournament Tight End

Trey McBride, Cardinals ($6,200) vs. Rams

McBride makes for a natural stack with Kyler Murray.

The young TE led the position with a 29% target share in Week 1. Top fantasy stats didn’t follow – but we’re talking about just a single game sample against a Sean McDermott defense.

McBride’s priced right, and his projected ownership isn’t through the roof at 17%.

Also in my player pool: Travis Kelce, George Kittle

Defense

*At defense, I’m generally looking to spend down across formats.

Jaguars ($3,800) vs. Browns

The Jags sit atop our defensive $/point rankings.

While they’re missing a couple of pieces in the secondary, it’s hard to overlook the severe issues with Cleveland’s offense.

-Deshaun Watson looked lost in a blowout vs. Dallas

-David Njoku is out

-OT Jedrick Wills is also out, while OT Jack Conklin is questionable

Also in my pool: Broncos, Commanders
