But you forgot one thing: You need to name the league!

Fantasy football league names are more important than you’d think

This moniker will be the inscription on the trophy the champion receives every year. Picking something dopey or generic like “Redraft Fantasy Football 2023” is flat-out lame.

We’re here to help you identify ways to assemble a list of the best fantasy football league names.

Hopefully, by the end of this, the perfect option will jump out, and the new group can get into battle.

Got your league name? Let's nail down that Draft Strategy

Method #1: Pick A Theme

Who doesn't love a good theme, whether it’s a TV show, movie, or musical artist?

Some of the best fantasy football league names come from a shared interest among friends.

For example, my home league comprises fellow musicians I met as a teenager in my local hardcore/metal music scene.

Though somewhat niche, the name of the group of people I look forward to competing with every year is called the “Djentlemen’s League” (here’s a definition of the musical subgenre called “djent” in case you’re curious).

But not every league name has to be that specific. You could go as basic with it as:

  • It’s Always Sunny In (city/town) League (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia)
  • Dillon Panthers Boosters Invitational (Friday Night Lights)
  • The Dozen EntenDres (The League)
  • Greendale Community College FF Club (Community)

From there, every manager can choose a team name based on a topical reference from the source material.

It makes it easier for everyone to choose fantasy football team names, and the whole league can rally around them. Pick an enjoyable theme and have some laughs along the way.

Speaking of which, why not laugh all the way to the bank with a fantasy football title?

Method #2: NFL Team-Related Names

Many local leagues will include people who predominantly root for the same NFL team.

Method #3: Just Something Related To Football

It’s OK if the creative bug doesn’t bite you.

The league will still have fun no matter the name, so long as an effort is made.

Try to include specific terms associated with the sport, like “gridiron,” “pigskin,” or “touchdown.”

That says you tried to put together a quality fantasy football league name, if nothing else.

Whatever looks good on the trophy will fly.
