The New England Patriots signed Alabama TE C.J. Dippre to an Undrafted Free Agent contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. Dippre caught just 65 balls across four college seasons – two at Maryland and two at Alabama. His 21 catches and 256 yards last year both ranked third on a Tide offense that averaged just 236 passing yards per game. But Dippre averaged an underwhelming 1.26 yards per route – 17th among 21 TEs at the Combine. Dippre was a short-range target for both schools, with a career 5.0-yard average target depth. He at least averaged a strong 7.6 yards after catch per reception, including 8.8 last year. Dippre earned an 8.71 Relative Athletic Score at 256 pounds at the Combine, so he’s a good athlete. But his production profile ultimately leaves him as a long shot to emerge as a fantasy asset.
Dippre was the starting TE Alabama and the mroe athletic option. His back-up and teammate Robbie Ouzsts was drafted as a blocking TE.
Dippre only caught 21 passes this season for 256 yards, poor production for the starting TE at Alabama.
The Patriots could have an opening at TE, but if Dippre can even get on the practice squad, it is a win.
He has no real dynasty or redraft value at this current time.
