Browns GM Andrew Berry called RB Quinshon Judkins a "bellcow" and a "very versatile" back on Friday night. Cleveland made Judkins the third RB off the board, selecting him 36th overall.
Berry on Judkins: "He’s a very well-rounded back. We’ve been spoiled the past couple years with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, and we feel like Quinshon is very much in that mold, in terms of skill set. Not necessarily saying that he’s going to develop into one of those players, “but we think he can be a bellcow runner that can really carry the load for us.”
With RBs Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong behind him on the depth chart, Judkins has an opportunity to control Browns carries right out of the gate. He's a well-built 221-pounder who topped 270 carries in both of his first two college seasons at Ole Miss before sharing the backfield with TreVeyon Henderson at Ohio State last year.
It's also encouraging that Berry called Judkins "versatile," hinting that the team believes he can contribute in the passing game. The draft capital also suggests that Cleveland views him as more than just a two-down back.
Judkins has the upside to see 250+ touches this season, which would make him a good bet for at least RB2-level fantasy production.
