No Movement On Aaron Rodgers To Pittsburgh

Aaron Rodgers Headshot

CBS Sports' Aditi Kinkhabwala reports that the Steelers have not gotten an update on QB Aaron Rodgers' plans since their March 21 meeting. "Aaron Rodgers is more likely to retire than sign with a team that's not a Super Bowl contender," Kinkhabwala adds.

What They're Saying

Kinkhabwala: "Aaron Rodgers is 41 years old, has made nearly $400M and is intellectually stimulated by more than football. From every convo I myself had with him about trying to mold/shape/push a Jets team NOT on the brink of a Super Bowl to every convo I’ve had with execs trying to woo him this offseason, it’s extremely clear Rodgers is not going to play just for the sake of playing."

2025 Fantasy Football Impact

It's unclear if Rodgers views the Steelers as a Super Bowl contender -- although the fact that he took the time to meet with the team suggests he's at least open to the possibility.

Rodgers has taken his sweet time deciding on his 2025 plans, which has put the Steelers in a tough spot with the draft just a week away. Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson are the only QBs currently on the roster. And we have to imagine Pittsburgh spending an early pick on a QB wouldn't make Rodgers more like to sign.

We'll see what the Steelers do with the 21st overall pick of the draft in eight days. The fantasy fates of WRs D.K. Metcalf and George Pickens hang in the balance.
