Steelers owner Art Rooney II said Tuesday that he expects his team to sign free agent QB Aaron Rodgers. “We keep hearing that he’s headed in our direction,” Rooney said at the NFL owners meetings, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I’d say we feel pretty good about it at this time.” Rooney added that he's willing to wait "a little longer" to get an answer from Rodgers. Rodgers initially met with the Steelers on March 21.
Here's HC Mike Tomlin, speaking at the NFL owners meetings on Monday (via NFL.com).
"We had a really productive day," Tomlin said of the March meeting. "He's been in this thing a long time. I've been in this thing a long time. But there's no substitute for intimacy and spending time together and getting to know one another in a non-competitive environment. So, that was really good. But I don't have any new updates in terms of where the process is. We'll see where it leads us."
In Pittsburgh, Rodgers would walk into a solid pass catching corps of D.K. Metcalf, George Pickens, and Pat Freiermuth. The O-line looks like a potential strong spot in 2025, too.
A lack of rushing output will leave the future Hall of Famer well outside QB1 range. Still, he'll command some QB2 attention in early best ball drafting. Currently, he's the QB31 in Underdog ADP -- but expect that number to creep up 5-8 spots.
