Former Chiefs RB Samaje Perine has signed back with his former Cincinnati Bengals team. The deal is worth up to $3.8 million. Perine likely won't be much of a threat to current starter Chase Brown, but could factor in his old pass catching role.
Mike Garafalo of NFL Network: "The Bengals are bringing back RB Samaje Perine on a two-year deal worth up to $3.8 million, source says."
Perine joins a RB room with Zack Moss behind clear starter Chase Brown.
It may be a battle to see which will be the back-up and possibly spell Brown so that his workload isn't quite as heavy this season.
The Bengals are clearly comfortable with Perine, and his pass catching role, as he was utilized behind Joe Mixon.
Currently, Perine isn't worth drafting, but keep an eye on the situation as it develops.
